We were really excited to stay at the Double Tree after hearing great things about it in years past. At first we thought we had gotten a great deal but now it’s apparent why rates are so low. The room was large but dated, which is fine, but there was a lot of built up dust around the baseboards and other surfaces. The bathroom had lots of soap scum and grime. Underneath the bed was full of crumbs and bits of crackers. It wasn’t disgusting, but wasn’t as clean as I’d expect a hotel to be, especially one with valet service. They also don’t disclose that it costs $20 a night to park. They heavily imply that the room comes with complimentary breakfast, which is actually also $20 for a regular breakfast buffet. One night we asked for an extra blanket and they couldn’t provide one because the door to the extra bedding was locked. The view of the waterfront and bridge was nice, so there’s that.
