Rooms: originally we were in coach room away from main hotel. Toilet was dirty, had feaces and public hair around rim. Carpets heavily stained, nets at window stained and had holes. This room faces a path and driveway to other rooms, for privacy curtains need to be closed. TV in poor location. Room was changed to one in main hotel, it was far cleaner. Spa. If you are staying at the hotel you are not provided with a robe or slippers. So on entering the Spa where you would expect to find these you're informed you need to get them from hotel reception. Time wasted going back to get them, reception should ask if you'd like a robe when you check in. Stairs to spa not swept, main door dirty, tiles and general decor needs some tlc and cleaning, whole area needs some updating as it's very tired. Food. Expensive Al a carte menu but more reasonable menu offered too. We ordered the saddle of beef with red wine jus, the jus was so salty, 5 other guests also complained. We were eventually informed our drinks would be removed from our bills but on check out this had not happened. It's just very poor and leaves a bad impression. Bar area, lacks any atmosphere and the barman made it very clear he was irritated by having to actually serve drinks, he even told my husband to wait whilst he phoned someone to complain people wanted drinks in the bar Overall this hotel has some lovely areas, and most staff members were lovely, but it's not cheap and it really does need to work on some areas to make it a lovely place to stay

Stayed here for one night and really enjoyed everything. Our room was great spacious comfortable and warm. Food was good and spa facilities were sufficient. We stayed in the executive double which was spacious clean and comfy. Would Definitely recommend a stay here.

Friendly welcome on arrival. Room better than expected but had a problem with it being too hot and not able to reduce the temperature during the night. Result was a poor night's sleep. We advised reception on departure who commented that we should have notified the night porter- not an option. Evening meal was excellent. Breakfast fell short of our expectations due to shortage of key items on the buffet- in particular marmalade and fruit salad. staff should ensure that key buffet items are replenished on a regular basis.
