Beautiful historic hotel, non residents can go for morning coffee, lunch, bar snacks afternoon tea and dinner. Several lovely rooms and areas downstairs to sit and enjoy whilst you have drinks or a bite to eat. We spent a few hours in the lounge bar being very well looked after by Sarah. She was very professional, helpful and attentive. We also walked around the grounds which are stunning. The only negative was the limited lunch menu in the spa restaurant, so we ate in the lounge bar. All areas were beautifully decorated, with lovely flowers everywhere.

Very disappointing afternoon tea. The tea room was very busy & the service was poor - there only appeared to be two staff, neither of whom checked at all during our time there whether everything was ok for us, even after they had served our food! We had to go to find them to ask for more tea - they were both hidden behind a screen in the corner of the room. The scones were dry & very hard, with only meagre amounts of jam & cream supplied - certainly not enough for four, good-sized scones. There was some kind of unappetising lurid green crust on the top of the profiteroles; however, the rhubarb fool & victoria sponge were lovely. We were a party of 10, celebrating my mother's 90th birthday, & I tried to contact the hotel about certain arrangements prior to our visit (including all afternoon & evening the day before) but the phone was never answered, which seems unusual to say the least in a hotel. I even sent an email raising my concerns over 48 hours ago but have, sadly, had no reply. Not at all what I expected from such an establishment.

Having read many negative reviews we were pretty apprehensive about our spa break. However we found everything to be great value. Friendly and helpful staff, excellent food and service, super facial/ massage included. Although not all spa facilities were available, the pool, gym and therapy facilities were good. Our room was very good with a great bathroom. We will come again!
