Econo Lodge Kent - Akron West

Stay far away from this place. Great location right off the highway, but that's the only positive thing I can say about this place. Go somewhere else...ANYWHERE else but here. I booked a room through Priceline based on the location and the pictures and description of a king size room. The pictures showed a jacuzzi tub and the room description stated "open air tub" IN ADDITION TO a separate line for the bathtub/shower. My room did not have the jacuzzi tub so I went up to the front desk and was told that was a different type of room and would cost around $60 or so more if I wanted it. Extremely misleading. My girlfriend and I never stayed in the room, we were out most of the evening for an event and returned around midnight and decided we didn't want to stay in the room because of the condition and fact that we didn't have the jacuzzi tub we had expected. I stopped to the front desk and voiced my issues again and asked for a refund but was denied. Additionally, was told I needed to pay $1 for "amenities". Asked what that covered and she couldn't provide an answer and just said "we provide cable tv", which is another issue because the room description stated streaming services were available but they were NOT. The room itself smelled nice, but the bed had a cigarette burn in multiple places and looked dirty on the corners. The bathtub also looked slightly dirty, and the bottom of the main door to the room looked like someone had tried to kick it in at one point. Hotel staff were not very nice either. There was a cranky man at check in, who I had to wait about 5 minutes or so before he finally showed up to the desk. When I checked out there was a younger girl who looked like she may be related to him who was uncaring and unfriendly when I had voiced my concerns. We will never go back to this location, and probably not even another Econo Lodge, ever again. I don't care if they're the cheapest and if I have to pay double their rate for the place next door I will never go back to them and wouldn't recommend to even my worst enemy.

this hotel obviously isn't the best but for the price if you just need a room for a night or 2 I think it's better than some, the staff and cleaning ladies have been accommodating for me. fridge, microwave, tv and bed are good, Hotel needs some updating but my rooms clean. They do want a larger than normal deposit which I paid in cash and no problem receiving my deposit in full at checkout so I guess it's okay.
