Elan Hotel Istanbul Pera

Our stay at Elan Hotel was extremely disappointing. We spent 5 days there, and both the bathroom and the apartment were in a terrible, unhygienic condition. The hotel is absolutely unacceptable, even for a short city break in Istanbul. The shower was dysfunctional — while showering, water was dripping from the overhead fixture onto our heads instead of coming through the hose. The shower cabin was dirty, clearly not properly cleaned for a very long time. One night at 4 a.m., we were woken up by water flooding from the bidet/toilet area. At first, we thought there was a serious flood, but it turned out that some machine was running elsewhere in the hotel, causing water to come out through the toilet in our room. Our friends, who stayed in the room next to ours, had ants in their room. After complaining, they were moved to another room — which was just as bad, with hidden mold behind a room divider. To make things worse, the hair dryer almost caught fire in my friend’s hand. Everything smelled old and worn out, the rooms were full of dust and grime, and overall the hotel felt neglected and unsafe. To make matters even worse, the breakfast can hardly be called breakfast at all. It was extremely poor, tasteless, and insufficient. The selection was limited to cheap cold cuts, basic cheese, bad coffee and tea, and hard, stale bread. We often left the breakfast area still hungry. This was not even close to what should be considered a proper breakfast — it is definitely not “B” for breakfast. At the end of the day, the pictures speak for themselves. I can only say one thing: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

Better than lots of 4 star Hotels

Location is good, near to istikbal street, bus station, funicular station, Galata Tower. Kitchen staff was very friendly. The rooms are very small. Breakfast was tasty and good enough for value.
