Emerald Lake Lodge

The lodge is charming and a comfortable place to stay. As a guest staying at the property, we had to call the lodge in their waiting building next to the parking lot. We arrived at 2 am and the building was open and warm. There is a telephone inside and you just call the main desk for someone to bring the free shuttle to take you to check in. There is no way for you or anyone else to drive yourself to check in. We were taken to the main Historic Lodge with the sit down restaurant, lounge, and check in desk. The Historic Lodge also had two fireplaces and many areas to sit. Upstairs has a complimentary pool table, fireplace, chess, and other areas to sit. We were greeted by friendly staff from the shuttle driver to the check in staff. We requested help getting our luggage to the room. The rooms are in one of the other buildings and you have to walk outside. We were lucky and received a room closest to the Historic Lodge. It is an easy walk to the Historic Lodge and to the Club House— both of these buildings are the only ones on-site with internet WiFi access. There is no cellular service on property— talk about disconnecting and enjoying nature! From my room, I can still reach the Club House WiFi some of the time. The Club House has an aerobic bike and an elliptical machine. No weights or other machines. There is a dry sauna and an 8-10 person outdoor hot tub. It has a small food vending machine, drink vending machine, and an ice maker. Hot tub towels are provided at the Club House. We had a lake view and it was gorgeous with mountains behind the lake. We had a daily visitor, a type of blue jay, that would fly onto our back porch deck and look through the windows on both sides of our deck. The deck has two outdoor chairs and a small table. Our Studio Suite room was room 241 and was larger than expected; we felt like there was plenty of room for the two of us to each have our own area and space for all of our things (we overpacked this trip). There was round table with seating for 4– perfect for coffee in the morning, eating, or working on something, couch, two chairs, two ottomans and a small round conversational table. They had everything we needed to make a fire in the stone fireplace, from matches, kindling, and wood. They provided L’Occitane en Province toiletries, including shower cap and a sewing kit. They provide tea, Nespresso coffee and machine, and a hot water kettle. Hot water for showers and sink were fast. Towels were a bit hard. Most of the room was maintained; the porch door stuck and you could see where they updated the bathroom because of the hole between the shower tile and the counter. There was a bit of black stained grout at the bottom of the shower tile. These small things are not unheard of for an older hotel and non-5 star. I wish there was a microwave and mini fridge in the room. The entry into our room’s building is tiled and slippery when wet— especially from snow on the bottom of our shoes. I would like to see something to prevent slips and falls there. The pillows on the bed and the spares in the closet are all flat. The hotel’s location is unbeatable with gorgeous scenery. We did a small hike around the lake, explored the property and took in the scenery from our room and back deck. We would definitely return in the summer. Sorry my pics have all my stuff in it. We arrived at 2am and didn’t get a chance for pics before unpacking.

Obviously the location is gorgeous. Beautiful and jaw dropping. The rooms however are dated and need a big refresh. Feels like you’re at grandmas cabin rather then a so called four star hotel. The bathrooms also have crash everywhere.
