Ethan Allen Hotel

We have stayed at this hotel a few times when visiting family. I am also typically not a complainer either. Maid service came to change towels & make our bed, great! Nope! They left our door OPEN! Not only that the changed our sheets & left them in our room along with 1/2 roll of toilet paper. I marched down to the front desk with the ball of sheets. I explained to the girl that our door was left OPEN, she did apologize & as I walked away called someone named Ed. I’m assuming he was the hotel manager on duty? The next day we dumped into the hotel manager, I told him what happened. No apology, he immediately asked did they move you. Why the heck would we get moved? Did he not hear his staff left our door OPEN & UNLOCKED? I will say that we got toilet paper. We stayed an entire week, spent a lot of money & will not be going back there. This is supposed to be an upscale hotel whose manager could care less about their guests. As a woman I’m glad I wasn’t traveling alone!

We stayed at The Ethan Allen Hotel because we were coming into town for the holidays and had our dogs with us. We were supposed to stay with family, but they were sick. The reservation was made less than 24 hours before check in. At 9:30am the day of check in I received a phone call asking if we were bringing pets and I said yes. They asked what kind of pets and how many. I said 2 dogs. We checked in around 5pm. At check in the woman at the desk had to step away to call her manager because there were no pet rooms available. When she came back she said her manager said we could just stay in a non pet room but there would be a $250 fine if the dogs peed or pooped on the floor because its carpet and not vinyl. I explained that its not my fault they dont have a pet room available for me since someone called at 9:30am to confirm i was coming with pets. I asked to speak with a manager and was informed there was not one there but they could call her. While on the phone with the manager I was told they could cancel my reservation without charge. I said no because we needed a place to stay. The door to the room slams when it shuts if you dont hold it to make it close slowly. The heater makes an awfully loud noise every time it comes on. There is an absurdly cold draft from the single pane window to the point where we had to stack our bags by the window to help stop the draft. The wall paper in the room is loosening from the walls. The day after christmas a snow storm came through. We went to 21 Lake for dinner around 7:45pm. The restaurant side was not open, just the bar. There was only a bartender serving the bar and 10 tables. When we arrived, at least 4 of the tables were dirty and 5 were occupied. The bartender was clearly exasperated. I asked if we should seat ourselves and he said thats fine. We waited for menus and when he came over with them he asked our drink order. My wife asked what kind of IPAs he has and his response was "I've got 30 beers hun, just pick one" and then he started naming off anything but IPAs. No beer menu, no drink menu, etc. Less than 5 minutes later when he brought my water and her beer he asked if we were ready to order. I said no and he didn't come back again for awhile. We couldn't count the number of times people came in and he said "Im behind, Im by myself, all my tables are dirty". One couple sat themselves at a said dirty table. Two women came in, one pregnant, the other her mom. They started clearing the tables for him. Overall the food was good, but the environment was less than enjoyable. It created an air of stress and anxiety listening to him snap at clients and joke about needing a sick day. The hotel was not what I was expecting from The Ethan Allen Hotel. The constant attitude of staff throughout our stay did not speak to people who wanted to work in hospitality.

Had to stop because we got stuck on the highway during the snowstorm. Khrystina was at the front desk and was wonderful. She was kind and made sure everyone felt welcome and taken care of!
