Europeia Hotel

It's in the center, but the entrance is an alley, a tiny street at the back of shops, with 2 bars and no parking. It's undergoing restoration work as of March 13, 2026, so they isolate the floors under construction while the others remain open. There's a strong smell of paint in the hallways, reception area, and other areas... I mentioned it, and the receptionist didn't like it... The guest upstairs walks around in high heels, the noise downstairs is terrible, not to mention the dragging of furniture, the small bathroom shows signs of age and poor restoration, the silicone was badly applied... There's no refrigerator in the room, on the first floor the windows face the windows of the neighboring building, you can hear the toilet flushing, the noises of the guests in their rooms, snoring, TV, doors slamming, absolutely everything haha... a terrible experience overall, I don't recommend it, we only realized what it was like upon arrival and there was no possibility of canceling.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had in a hotel! From the conditions to the lack of organization.... I made a reservation for a certain amount, it was confirmed, and even after checking in and being in the room, I was informed that the payment was not accepted. It was not accepted because, according to the hotel, they were experiencing a very high occupancy rate and the price had increased. A basic room increased by €15!!! Of course, we had to pay, as we were already settled in and starting to shower. Hotels with much better conditions a few kilometers away were exactly the same price. The hotel has an unbearable smell of paint, the first floor in the common area is under construction and the smell is truly awful! I can't understand how they serve breakfast there. In the morning it's noisy, beds being thrown, doors banging, it's truly horrible. Having said that, I didn't even receive an invoice with a tax identification number, because they didn't even ask me for that at reception! Which leads me to believe that not everything is declared in this hotel. I chose this hotel because of the calamitous situation in Leiria, needing a shower and some rest. I must say that even without electricity and water, we would have had better conditions and wouldn't have felt like they were taking advantage of the increased demand to raise prices. So far, they've asked me to complete a satisfaction survey, which I answered expressing my complete dissatisfaction with, and the hotel hasn't responded. As I mentioned, nobody has to feel sorry for anyone, and we made the reservation ourselves, but this hotel lacks human values, as they only change rates when guests are already in their rooms. Because when the reservation was made online, confirmed, and paid for, everything was fine, including at check-in! If you can, choose another hotel!
