I had an ok time. The people at the restaurant were amazing and accommodating. Calling room service not so much. Went down to have the warm something up for me since there was no microwave. They told me they couldn’t warm it up and they would send a microwave up to my room. I went back up and waited an hour. Called the front desk and they had now idea why I was talking about. They then had me come back down and then warmed up my food down there. On the way back up there was a giant line at the elevator that took me 20 min waiting to get back up to my room. This experience left a sour taste and had me frustrated the rest of my stay. I also asked for a box of Kleenex and they brought me a toilet paper roll an hour later. Like seriously what is going on here.

We stayed here to celebrate the new year and our 11 year anniversary, but it was all messed up. Except the location of the hotel, the holiday decorations, and the spa experience, everything else was just not up to the mark. The room quality was sub-par, even though it was their Signature Suite. The bath tub had paint applied on its base, the wall paint was peeling off, and there were carpet stains everywhere. Will I be staying again at Fairmont? Absolutely not! 1. Our room experience wasn't the best. First night, the bathtub drain doesn't work and they sent someone at 11pm in the night to fix, despite us complaining about it at 6pm. 2. We had requested their housekeeping staff at 5pm on Day 1 to send someone over to convert the sofa into a sofa bed - that again, didn't happen until 11pm in the night on the same day. The housekeeping simply "forgot" about the request. 3. On Jan 1, we had left the bedding quilt on the floor coz my kids had made them dirty and housekeeping staff ended up reusing those. 5. We had stepped outside for dinner and when we came back, our room door was left open on Jan 1. 6. We had put in a request to swap the head shower with a hand shower, so we could bathe the kids easily - despite multiple requests over multiple days, it never got done. 7. My car was with their valet team and on Jan 1, I noticed a fuse box cover was left in the storage area of my car. None of their team was aware about it - an incident report was created for this with their valet team. 8. Most importantly, my wife had left a plastic bag with some food and my little one's milk sippy cup (that was purchased overseas) - when we came back from dinner on Jan 1, this entire bag was missing. We lodged a complaint with their housekeeping staff and front desk team, but they couldn't retrieve any of this stuff. Their staff just discarded this entire thing. My little one is fussy till date about that particular sippy cup. 9. At the time of reservation, I had also put in a request for two queen beds vs just 1 king bed and I had spoken with one of their reps a night before our reservation and I was told it would be done. When we arrive, it's not there and we were then asked to convert the sofa into a sofa bed and use a rollaway bed - it was just a complete mess. My wife and two kids - we couldn't sleep together during the entire stay.

The hotel is in a nice spot. Closer to a lot of places. I was able to simply walk to many places. Hotel has nice amenities. I loved it. I bookmarked it. Most probably will stay in the same hotel next time I visit Chicago.
