Feel Osaka Yu - Hostel

This hotel seems to be popular with foreigners, and much of the information within the building is in English, but the explanations were very easy to understand, so I had no trouble staying there! From 9pm to 10pm, you can play instruments in a stylish room next to the front desk, and I had a lot of fun improvising with people I met at the hotel! The hotel staff speak English and are very enthusiastic, so even though I didn't understand English, I was able to make friends with the other guests just by feeling the rhythm! Not only is this hotel perfect for people who can play instruments, but it's also very accessible from the station, so I highly recommend it when sightseeing in Osaka! I'll definitely stay here again!

I had the most wonderful experience here. Kaz, Kaz Senior and Yoko are the most kind and catering people I have met. They go far and beyond to make your experience as welcoming as possible. The amount of high end instruments to play in the lounge area is a musicians dream. If you are a musician, you will have plenty of people to jam with, they also hold weekly jam sessions every saturday! The capsules are spacious and well maintained, the private rooms are also lovely. I highly recommend Feel Osaka Yu, I ended up staying for a month because I didn't want to leave 😅.

The attitude toward foreign guests is openly hostile. The owner did not realize we understood Japanese, and the comments we heard were shocking. According to their mindset, foreigners should quietly obey, adapt, and accept any treatment without expecting respect or basic courtesy. The message is clear. If this is not your home country, you should not expect any rights or dignity in their building. Arrival policies are equally unreasonable. You cannot wait inside even if you arrive only ten minutes early. Sitting in the lobby comes with strict posture rules because they seem to believe foreigners are “not civilized” unless monitored and corrected. It is unbelievable that such a place still receives positive reviews. Nothing about the environment feels welcoming. The level of surveillance is extreme. Facial recognition cameras are installed everywhere, and the amount of personal data collected is deeply concerning. There is no transparency about where your information goes or who has access to it. Based on how invasive the surveillance feels, it is difficult not to wonder what is being recorded and whether conversations or even your stay inside the room are being monitored. My experience here was unsettling from beginning to end. I genuinely hope future guests understand what kind of place they are walking into.
