Fontana Beach Hotel

I attended the "Glocal Film Education Forum," hosted by the Jeollanam-do Office of Education, held at the Fontana Beach Hotel in Mokpo. This event was especially meaningful because it was held in conjunction with the 2025 2nd Small School Film Festival. Banners promoting the Film Education Forum and the Small School Film Festival were displayed throughout the hotel. Particularly striking was the slogan, "Local Stories, Becoming Global Culture," which conveyed a commitment to expanding the value of local education to the world. The event took place at the Mokpo Fontana Beach Hotel banquet hall on Friday, December 19, 2025, starting at 2:30 PM. The following programs were presented: Children and Youth Film Education Case Studies - Presented by Tobi Myoko (Japan) Animation Project Collaboration Case Studies - Presented by Melton Qing (Taiwan) and Tai Yinghui (Taiwan) The Value of Creation that Tells Local Stories - Presented by Lee En-hsin (Taiwan) Film Education that Awakens Life - Professor Kim Man-soo Small School Film Festival Under the theme "Children Meet Cinema," this film festival, which has been held since 2004, showcased films made by students at small schools. The film featured students filming and planning with cameras, and the subtitle "Immerse Yourself in Dreams" (夢中になる) was particularly striking. In particular, Taiwanese films were screened as international invitations, and works from various schools, including Sunbul Middle School, were introduced. The Fontana Beach Hotel, a tourist hotel located at 69 Pyeonghwa-ro, boasts clean facilities and a comfortable atmosphere. The first floor features a lobby, coffee shop, restaurant, and Japanese restaurant, while the second floor features a sauna and banquet hall. The Jeollanam-do Office of Education library bus was parked near the venue, further highlighting the educational nature of the event. It was truly impressive to see students from small local schools expressing their stories through film and engaging in international exchange through film education. The event exemplified the Jeollanam-do Office of Education's glocal educational philosophy, and the Mokpo Fontana Beach Hotel was fully equipped with the facilities and atmosphere to host such a meaningful event. The blue-covered resource booklet and adorable character merchandise provided as event materials were particularly informative. It was a meaningful occasion where education, culture, and the arts converged.

Better than expected with great view to the ocean and peace park with beautiful night fountain water show. Just few steps to the ocean.

The location is perfect, with a direct view of the Peace Park fountain. All rooms have ocean views, which is nice. There are plenty of great restaurants nearby, the prices are reasonable, and the rooms have separate toilets and bathrooms. Highly recommended!!!
