I don't understand the negative reviews. Absolutely great hotel, we were there in December and March and stayed in rooms on the 3rd floor, which were very nice. Breakfast without a single complaint, everything you can think of. 4 types of pastries, fresh scrambled eggs that they made up as they ran out, soft-boiled eggs, 4 types of salami and cheese, pâté, 6 types of homemade jams, cereals, 2 types of yogurt, fruit, vegetables... I really don't understand what anyone missed. For dinner in December, a buffet of soup, salads and one main course, and in March, a choice of two main courses. The landlady kept coming and asking if we had everything...5 minutes to the cable car. Free sauna.

We were a family skier in St. Johann and stayed at the Fortshof Hotel. We had some bad luck with the rooms: My room had a newly renovated bathroom, and one daughter's family room was fine with two separate bedrooms and plenty of storage and play space. The crib and the bed for our older grandson weren't ready upon arrival, despite prior email contact, but this was rectified immediately. The other daughter's room was a disaster: old, dirty, the curtains were hanging torn from the floor, the windowsill was broken and threatened to fall at any moment, and the balcony door could only be opened with force, requiring care to prevent it from falling on you. After complaining, they were given a small double room in the basement, where at least everything worked. Breakfast was adequate, with a selection of cold cuts and cheeses, yogurt, fresh fruit, and eggs prepared in various ways. The only downside was the limited selection of bread and rolls. I would have liked a whole-grain roll or bread, as there were only cheap pre-baked rolls, crispbread, and toast. I'm a bit particular about coffee, so I won't comment on that. Dinner, on the other hand, was absolutely delicious. There was always soup, a small salad bar, a meat dish, and a vegetarian option. It was all very nicely presented and tasted fantastic, including the dessert. The service during dinner was attentive and very friendly. What we really appreciated was that we could stay afterward and were offered drinks. We took full advantage of this, sitting and playing games late into the evening. The location is perfect for skiers. You walk 100 meters to the lift and can ski right back to the front door in the afternoon. This is a huge plus and makes up for some of the negative reviews. Also worth mentioning is the lovely decoration around the house, a nice playground for the children, and a really large room for all the ski and snowboard equipment with plenty of space to get ready. All in all, it was a lovely holiday.

We spent a week skiing there. Our room was a complete dump. Old, dirty, and small. Some of the furniture was broken, and the mattress was sagging. The bathroom hadn't been renovated in 50 years. The curtains were filthy, the windows were fogged up, and the ceiling lights were broken. They weren't repaired. The bathroom wasn't cleaned for a whole week! I had to clean the sink once using our towels and toiletries. At breakfast, everything was the cheapest kind. They were pre-baked rolls from a discount store, the orange juice tasted like yellow water, and the coffee was like brown brew. Dinner also seemed like a cost-cutting measure, lacking quality. There are no loungers in the sauna area, so you have to go back to your room to relax. I would never vacation there again, even though the hotel's location is very convenient.
