This evening, my friends and I went to the Four Points by Sheraton Bolzano, a Marriott International hotel, which we frequent often precisely because we're used to certain standards. Unfortunately, the experience fell significantly short of expectations—and not for a minor detail, but for a matter of principle. After ordering drinks at the bar (€5 each), we weren't served anything: no chips, no peanuts, nothing. Considering that Marriott hotels are standard practice in serving at least one appetizer with your drink, we assumed it was simply an oversight. We then politely asked a waiter if we could have something to nibble on with our drinks. The reply was "there was nothing to eat." Too bad a bag of chips and a bag of peanuts were clearly visible behind the cash register. Now, if the internal rules had changed, that's acceptable. What's unacceptable is the lack of transparency. Claiming there's nothing when the snacks are literally in full view of the customer is unprofessional and completely undermines the credibility of the service. It's not about the value of the chips, but about the respect for the customer and the standards a brand like Marriott should guarantee. Paying €5 for a drink and not receiving even a minimal accompaniment despite it being available is simply disappointing. An experience that doesn't live up to the standard expected from a property of this caliber.
