I used Bonvoy points. I never got promoted to Platinum Elite status. The front desk staff was excellent, with a female staff member who spoke Japanese, but the female staff member who didn't speak Japanese and wore heavy makeup was rude and awful. I really felt that the timing of check-in was very important, as the staff's attitude can make or break your stay.
