Worst hotel and service I’ve stayed at, even in comparison to HOSTELS I’ve stayed in Europe. Don’t understand how this is considered 5 star hotel when the room is dirty and not all the facilities are able to be in used. I specifically booked this hotel as I would have liked to use the sauna and treat it as my solo staycation. I had asked the receptionist if the sauna is available and it was currently out of service but nothing was said on the website or the time of booking. With this information, I had decided if I could cancel my booking only after 30 mins of being checked in. When heading down, I had asked for a refund and told them why I had booked this hotel in the first place and they could not offer a refund as “upper management wouldn’t allow it, since it was a last minute booking.” I would have like to think compensation would at least be given, but it was said that I could only get an upgrade the next time I book with them, which is near impossible as I live in UK and will not be spending more time in the city. So nothing was done, and I refuse to spend $500 for one night trying to book another hotel. The lack of empathy and understanding, especially for a 5 star hotel is disappointing. Also when I arrived in the room, there was dust everywhere and you could tell it was not clean throughly with oily finger prints still on cupboards, stain on pillow and dust ball on the floor. This service is not 5-star at all, but the only good thing is the location. Even then, you still have Meriton the next door, having the same facilities and better service (having stayed there multiple times) with similar price. The only compensation that was ever given was a late checkout, but the receptionist said it was complimentary so it had nothing to do with the above and I asked when I got back from dinner, not during the initial interaction. A shame as I was excited stay here, especially being a 5 star, but overall disappointment and lack of customer care and attentiveness.
