This place is ok for a hostel but I wouldn't recommend it. It's more of a hotel with bunk beds. Aside from price and location there aren't any benefits to staying here versus a standard hotel. For a place branding itself as a hostel there are very few hostel benefits provided here. No recommendations, events, kitchen, communal areas, or breakfast. Technically, there is a dingy basement room with a fridge and microwave that they designate the communal area but no one wants to be there except to use the microwave or get water. There are areas such as the lobby and rooftop that are noted as benefits of staying in the hostel but these are actually businesses run out of the building that are completely open to the public with no benefits or discounts for guests. That means they disallow external food and beverages. Your only choice is the basement or your room (if your roommates are fine with it). In essence this is a bunkbed hotel without the hotel benefits and no hostel benefits. It's bad all around aside from saving a few bucks. So if price is really a deal breaker for you I guess this place is alright but I'd recommend a private room, otherwise spend a little more for a hotel. The final thing I'll point out is they don't have a ban on locals or people from the state like some other hostels do but perhaps that's unreasonable given the population. If you know you know.

This is my favorite hotel in Los Angeles. The rooms are good, the location is great and the rooftop has become one of my favorite places in the city, only good vibes every time I’ve been there.
