Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Cancun - All Inclusive

We've been to many resorts in Cancun and other areas of MX and Garza Blanca is now our favorite. Excellent stay from 1/1 to 1/7 Rooms were spacious, clean, and well laid out, food was above average with the sushi and steakhouse being or favorites. Service was fantastic with everyone doing their best to make guests happy. Special thanks to MICHAEL at the rooftop pool and to DANIEL by the main pool area for above and beyond exceptional service and hospitality.

We stayed here in December. Overall, I would probably return again, but we did encounter a few issues that left a bad impression. The good? The rooms are lovely, great views from the resort, staff were friendly, no waits for restaurants, food was between good and great (depending on where and what you ate), guests were polite and well behaved. Comfy pool chairs. Fermin was a wonderful bellhop. Jesus was a great server. Coney is a great massage therapist at the pool. Try to get them if you can. Easy access to the ferry to Isla Mujeures. The bad? -Transportation from airport: This was such a cluster fiasco. We couldn't get our transportation info without suffering through a sales pitch. Then we couldn't find the transport representative out in the mayhem. Garza Blanca should really invest in their own transport shuttles, branded with their logo, and operated by their staff. - Hotel check in: This, for reasons I don't understand, took way too long. Everything had been paid for and arranged months in advance. The person checking us needed to seek help from multiple coworkers in order to complete our check in. Other guests seemed to breeze through the process. The complimentary champagne made the process tolerable; a complimentary bottle would've been better. - The never-ending sales pitch: We couldn't access our room until we were hounded by the concierge about sitting through a sales pitch. I said no many, many times, and that it had been a long day of travel and I was eager to get to our room. The concierge kept trying to "sweeten the pot" for us to sit in on a presentation (read: better deals at the spa, etc.). If you're the type that wants to just get their room key and head up to the room upon arrival, beware. The concierge was also very misleading about the VIP perks you receive if you are a member or guest of a member. Apparently, you only receive those perks *IF* you attend their presentation (which, again, I said no, and I'm glad I did because people report that the presentation is supposed to b 90 mins, but easily lasts 2-3 hours). The bait-n-switch was realized when we went to the spa and didn't receive the 2-for-1 printed in our VIP flier. We did receive a discount, but it was not the discount advertised by the concierge, which I have a major problem with. - Housekeeping: Did not clean the bathtub the entire time we were there. I had to call repeatedly to get more wash cloths and hand towels. - Room service- It took a long time for someone to answer the phone to take an order. Our order was messed up once and the delivery person tried to accuse me of not ordering the item (it was the first item I listed to the operator; I know what I ordered) and part of an order was left off the trolley one time (but quickly resolved). - Noise - if your room is on the jungle side of the resort, be prepared to listen to live concerts. They end about 10:30 pm, but this could be problematic for families with little kids or anyone hoping to go to bed before 10:30 pm. We could occasionally hear people running and shouting in the hallways. - We had an issue with the W/D in the room. The washer started leaking even though we hadn't used it. The floors are very slick to begin with and an unnoticed water puddle caused someone in our party to slip and almost break a toe. We asked the front desk numerous times to address the leak. Ultimately the W/D were just unplugged (why?!?), which we realized when we went to do laundry and the machine didn't turn on. -Service at roof top pool: the server assigned to our section was MIA most of the time. At the other pools, we had attentive servers. - Lastly, before we'd officially checked out of the room, staff came into our room and ate a cupcake and drank a coke from our fridge and left the evidence on the kitchen counter. This BLEW MY MIND! I truly can't believe a staff person did this before we had concluded using the room. Yeesh! I'd welcome Garza Blanca staff to reach out to me to discuss our experience.

Hotel staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel was packed on the holidays and it seems like they weren’t ready for it.. We had a sofa bed but they were out of blankets. For days! The restaurants were all fully booked even weeks before. We needed to go to the pool/beach at 7:30am to put stuff on chairs so we’ll have a place to sit somewhere around the pool otherwise we couldn’t even find a chair. It’s toddler and kids friendly and I believe in times that are less busy it can be perfect for an all-inclusive. But for what we paid we felt like it didn’t meet the standards it should.
