Unfortunately, we had a very poor experience with Hotel Golden House Craiova. We made our booking via Booking.com and specifically confirmed in advance that we would be arriving just after midnight. The hotel assured us this was fine and that someone would be at reception after we rang the gate doorbell. To our big surprise, when we arrived on a cold night, we waited for over an hour until 2:30 a.m., but no one answered—not at the doorbell, not by phone and not through Booking messages. We were left outside with our two children (aged 8 and 12), which made the situation even more distressing. The next day, the hotel explained that there had been a personal emergency, which we understand can happen. However, since they knew we were arriving late, it would have been reasonable to make alternative arrangements (such as leaving keys with someone or informing us in advance). Because of this, we were forced to search for another hotel at nearly 3 a.m., going through several options before finally finding a place to stay—a very unpleasant and exhausting experience for the whole family. While we appreciate that we received a refund for the original booking, the hotel refused to offer any further compensation for the emergency booking and extra costs incurred. Overall, a very disappointing experience that could easily have been avoided with better communication at the time of the booking.

I liked everything, starting with the appearance and comfort of the hotel, continuing with the very kind and professional staff, the impeccable cleanliness: daily change of towels and everything related to hygiene, the very good location, the very good food at the restaurant and the fast service. Note 10. I highly recommend it. I will definitely come back. Craiova was a pleasant surprise for us, it is a true European city that we can be proud of.

A slightly controversial experience. The hotel is located in a beautiful and easily accessible area, has a large parking lot. The interior is interesting but it seems like it needs some maintenance work, and the rooms are a little unkempt. Cleanliness is not really the strong point. However, what bothered us was the attitude of the staff, from check-in to check-out and serving meals. And it should be noted that they look a little strange if you want to pay by card. I left without the lady looking up and I barely got a goodbye, a lot of work in the hospitality department. The breakfast was decent. The rooms have a lot of potential, but with a lot of work still to do.
