I've reviewed the top-class restaurants in Hakone/Kusatsu. Kusatsu 5.0 BLISSEN 4.9 Hakone 4.0 BLISSEN: I'd really like to give it 5.0 because the service was incredibly luxurious. Every server was highly professional, yet approachable. It's a very well-managed restaurant. Dinner received slightly less credit. Appetizers: I highly recommend the sashimi and four small dishes, especially the fish jelly, which was delicious and showed great care in its presentation. Second course: Abalone and radish with shrimp spring rolls. The spring rolls were excellent, but the abalone was slightly less impressive, lacking a bit of saltiness, though the sauce made up for it. Main course: The beef was overcooked, but the marbling was beautiful. The doneness could be adjusted. The side dishes, sauce, and salt were excellent. Final course: Otoko ochazuke (rice with sardines), very comforting and refreshing. I loved it. Dessert: Delicious, with a perfect balance of sweetness. The sweetness of the ingredients was carefully balanced. Overall, the main course was a disappointment, but the precise crowd control and excellent service made up for it. The Japanese cuisine was so outstanding that the Western-style main course felt out of place, as the other dishes were clearly made with great care. The room was impeccable, with huge floor-to-ceiling windows offering perfect views, and complimentary washer and dryer. The bathhouse surpasses even the Kusatsu Hotel in terms of space and design, and it even has an open-air hot spring. The common areas also include a tea room, which photography enthusiasts will love. Excellent value for money.

The room was beautiful. The service was absolutely superb. However, there were a few minor drawbacks: 1. The shuttle bus didn't stop at the location shown in the photos. We arrived 15-20 minutes early, but didn't see anyone holding a sign. It was already 1:00 PM when we had to ask other buses to find out where the bus was. 2. The Japanese-style dinner was excellent; you could tell they put effort into it. Unfortunately, the main dish, grilled beef, was too tough and dry, which was a real shame.
