We stayed at the Grand Hotel Portorož for two nights. Despite the fact that parking was advertised as available, upon our arrival at 3:00 PM we were informed that there was no parking available that day and that we should “try our luck” the following day when other guests would be leaving. As it was a sunny day, Portorož was very crowded, and we spent a long time searching for a parking space. From arrival to finally reaching our room, the entire process took more than an hour. We then had to walk approximately 20 minutes to the hotel, as no parking was available nearby. The hotel is rated as a four-star hotel, although it is unclear when it received this rating. The room is clearly in need of renovation. The toilet seat was broken, and the ventilation filter was marked as “dirty,” among other issues. I do not understand how a four-star hotel can allow such conditions. The dinner food selection is varied and of good quality, and the waitstaff are friendly. However, the cleanliness of the plates and cups was very poor, both at breakfast and at dinner. The plates and cups were dirty on both the top and the underside, with visible residue and texture. This is completely unacceptable and far below any acceptable standard. Clean plates and cups are a basic requirement. In 2025, we stayed in nearly 25 hotels. This was by far the worst one
