Grand Hotel President

A wonderful hotel! Would definitely go again. The staff are so friendly and respectful (especially the restaurant and bar staff - Antonino and his team are lovely), we felt like we had known them for years. Up on the mountainside with fantastic views over the bay of Napoli, so lovely and quiet, away from all the crowds and traffic of Sorrento town. The hotel provides a free shuttle bus into the centre of Sorrento. Highly recommend.

Where do I begin: Pool turns any light swimwear green, raised this with reception they said levels right and it was the soap I used but showed them new pool float with white net that went green within 15 mins of use. Sunbeds cramped in together so not a nice pool area, from 9 am towels allowed so lots of sun bed reserving going on. Rooms 304 (poor air con!) and 306 - very old fashioned, these rooms are below the breakfast room so do get chair scraping from 7am but I did not complain about that as wore ear plugs. It looked directly over pool so was noisy from pool in day but again that did not bother me. Shuttle bus- this was awful, the bus was too small for amount using so you had to arrive early to get on bus, if missed as lots of queue jumping had to wait for second run...not relaxing, if want a taxi back is 40 euros fro 1 small distance from town but there is NOTHING where hotel is and too hot to walk back from town. I mentioned to reception and they said licence said could only have small bus but when I checked out early...yes early as what awful there, the man claimed big bus was in accident and would be back....so they tell lies! the other hotels has big proper coach where all got on. so stay at hotel that has a full sized coach or i would say in town. Air con- very poor...if you get room 304 it is warm, we told them continually it did not work but they said full so cannot moved and it was never fixed, we know it was poor as we also had room 306 and that was colder. GYM- no air con or even a fan, dingy and in basement like the dingy depressing games room. When i checked out EARLY i asked for discount because of issues and manager said no, i said i was leaving poor review, he knocked a measly 50 pounds off what had cost thousands and said now do not leave bad review. We have travelled lots and never been to such an awful place. Some staff though were wonderful...not the reception staff or management and breakfast was good but that was about it. Would never return and have complained to JET2.

The hotel is located in a residential area and was certainly once the top location in town. The rooms are clean and the breakfast buffet is absolutely fine. A small pool is available to cool off. Unfortunately the hotel doesn't offer dinner, but that's not a big deal. After a short walk you are in the center and, when the weather is nice, you can enjoy the Italian flair in various restaurants.
