I stayed at the Grand Hotel Savoia and had a truly excellent experience. It's an elegant 5-star hotel located in a magnificent historic Art Nouveau building, which immediately exudes a refined and charming atmosphere. I had initially booked at the Hotel Continental Genova, a neighboring property owned by the same company, but I received a very welcome upgrade to the Savoia, which was truly appreciated. The room was tastefully furnished, welcoming, and with a splendid view of the city. The bed was very comfortable, the only small flaw being the separate mattresses. The bathroom was fully equipped; the only flaw was the shower curtain, a detail one would expect different in a 5-star hotel. The complimentary bottle of sparkling wine for my birthday was very nice and appreciated: a truly appreciated touch. The room was quiet and perfect for a peaceful rest. The intercontinental breakfast was also excellent, with a wide selection and products. Recommended

Spent two nights at Grand Hotel Savoia for a quick trip to Genoa. Rooms are quite comfortable, with luxurious beds and black-out shutters - helped keep the early morning city noise muffled, too. Main lounge on first floor is opulent, with plenty of comfortable seating, quality bar service, and an atmosphere reminiscent of a more glamorous period in Genoa. Live music on some nights, piano primarily. Location is fine, close to one of the main rail stations and maybe a 10 minute walk to the old part of the city. The main area around the hotel is safe enough, as well as main streets to old city. As a general note, some of the side streets in the old city can be a bit "unsavory" - nothing to do with the hotel, but something tourists new to the city should know.

A disappointing stay at the Grand Hotel Savoia. I had booked this hotel partly for the spa, which had been guaranteed to me during the booking process. The stay was for Valentine's Day, so it was an important aspect of the experience. Upon arrival, I was told that the spa was completely full and needed to be booked in advance. It's a shame that this information was never communicated, neither during the booking process nor indicated anywhere else. The worst part was the handling of the problem: the reception staff did nothing to remedy the situation or offer an alternative. No attention was shown to the customer, even though it was clear that the mix-up had ruined the experience. From a facility of this caliber, I expected much more clarity and, above all, more willingness to address a mistake. As it stands, the experience did not live up to expectations.
