Gudauri Lodge

🔴 Very disappointing experience. Absolutely not recommended. We booked Gudauri Lodge for just one night (price around €400) specifically as the final night of our trip before flying back, to relax and enjoy the mountain and snow views. We deliberately chose one of the most expensive hotels, relying on its rating and reviews — and were extremely disappointed by the attitude toward guests. The day before our arrival, it snowed heavily. We were almost at the hotel — only 15–20 minutes away — when the road was closed. We immediately contacted the hotel, explained the situation, and asked for assistance or a refund, as we physically could not reach the property. The hotel showed complete indifference. We were told that “nothing could be done” and they refused to refund the money, insisting that we wait for the road to reopen, with no clear timeframe. Later, the hotel offered a so-called “solution”: a hotel transfer for 150 GEL for a 15–20 minute drive (presented as a “discount”). For comparison, we traveled from Tbilisi to Gudauri in about 2 hours for the same price. However, we had no choice — standing for hours in freezing weather was not an option. We were told the car was already on the way, but we waited an entire hour sitting in our taxi, which increased the taxi cost to 200 GEL. After that, we waited another 2.5–3 hours for the road to open. In total, we lost almost 4 hours of our vacation time, despite having only one night in Gudauri. Upon arrival at the hotel: • the driver immediately demanded payment (150 GEL), • there was no compensation, no meaningful apology, and no effort to accommodate us, • the hotel refused to extend our stay even by 1–2 hours, claiming the hotel was “fully booked,” which did not match reality (there were clearly not many guests at breakfast or in the spa). Additional costs caused by this situation: • 200 GEL — taxi • 150 GEL — hotel transfer ➡️ 350 GEL extra, solely due to the hotel’s lack of support. Additional downsides: • the hotel positions itself as 5-star, but does not meet that standard, • rooms are old and without balconies, • no iron or ironing board in the room — something we have never encountered in a hotel of this supposed category. Another important point: the transfer prices offered by the hotel are completely unreasonable. At reception, we were quoted 500+ GEL for a transfer back to Tbilisi. We left using Yandex Taxi for 150 GEL, which arrived immediately. Conclusion: A hotel located in the mountains and at a ski resort must be prepared for snow and road closures. Gudauri Lodge takes no responsibility and shifts all problems onto guests who are paying premium prices. We strongly do not recommend this hotel and will never return.

The hotel is superb! The staff is very polite. Special thanks to Miro and David. The ski slope is very convenient. The food is varied and delicious. I highly recommend it.

Unfortunately this hotel is a complete scam & risking the health of their staff & their costumers. I got ill one night before our stay & instead of offering me a refund they rather want me to come & put their staff & guests at risk. (Although I sent them doctors proof for my illness. This hotel seems to not only not care about it‘s guests, but also trying to scam you if you get ill. 100% NOT RECOMMENDED. This will have consiquences.
