Hakuba Ryujin Onsen RYOKAN SUI

We recently stayed here for 3 nights, 4 days and cannot recommend this place enough. We stayed in the Deluxe Double Room in the newer building - the room was modern yet felt traditional and was very roomy. The tatami floor in the room heats up which is really nice for winter. This is a separate building from the main building which has the food & drinks and onsens but it's a 5-10 second walk so not a big deal. There are both Japanese and Western options for breakfast and everything was really good! Would highly recommend booking a room with the breakfast included as we found it to be very worth it. We only had dinner once - you have 3 options from sukiyaki, yakiniku, and shabu shabu and your whole group needs to choose the same option. We had the sukiyaki and found it to be a little too soy sauce heavy/salty but the veggies and meat were good! This ryokan also has food/drinks available for free in the evening for guests which is great, including sake, wine, soba, ice pops, etc. As for the onsen, you have two baths that are sort of connected inside, a cold plunge bath, sauna, and an outdoor bath. I used it a decent amount and every time I used the onsen there were 1-2 other people or I was by myself. The outdoor bath was super nice, especially when it was snowing. Everyone on the staff is super nice! Okada san drove us a couple times, event on the last day to the bus station that's a 5 minute walking distance from the ryokan, because we were nervous about slipping if we walked. If the staff is available, they're happy to drop you off somewhere, so don't be shy about asking! They did mention after 5pm is a little hard for them. Would definitely recommend and look forward to coming back in the future!

Ryokan Sui was an incredible experience for our family. The hotel and onsen are absolutely beautiful and the staff always helpful - happy to go out of their way for us - and so full of joy. The location is close to the slopes of Goryu but peaceful and quiet, and with the baths, fantastic beds and well wishes from the staff we feel so sad to leave but energised from our stay. Thank you Ryokan Sui for looking after our family in such style. Five stars!

The room was clean and tidy with underfloor heating. The tatami living area and sleeping area were nicely separated. The four-person room had four single bunk beds and very warm heating. You can soak in the hot spring every day! There's also a cold water pool, sauna, and outdoor hot spring area, perfect for relieving fatigue. Plus, every staff member was incredibly warm and friendly. The breakfast was also delicious! A wonderful trip here!
