Hampshire Hotel & Spa - Paping

Great sauna. The room was large, but the sheets had large holes, and the shower barely ran dry. The room smelled of sewage. Service was very slow. The brown bread, cutlery, etc., were all gone and weren't replenished.

I was really curious about my experience in this hotel after reading all the bad reviews; After 4 days there, I think it's just a matter of expectations and tuning into the objective truths. Expect a tourist fee (About €5 per day of stay) due to be paid upon arrival in the reception. We didn't know about this upfront so it took us by surprise. * Bedrooms: The standard bedroom is nothing special, but it has exactly what you need to survive, no more no less. It's perfect for a budget trip where you won't spend most time in the room. The Sheets felt clean and fresh. * Bathrooms: I was dissatisfied with the bathrooms because 1. There was a lot of mold and debris in the shower, including old snot. 2. There's a public toilet brush next to the toilet, I don't think this is hygienic as basically you are sharing it with all the other old customers, for me was quite disgusting to see that old brush sitting there in a layer of white substance. * Sound Isolation: I recommend bringing earplugs as you can hear the warming machine THE WHOLE NIGHT, a constant buzzing noise all over the building. You can also hear everything through the walls, so if you want some privacy you need to stay quiet or turn on the old tv. * Pool and Sauna: The highlight of my experience was the Outdoor Sauna and the Jacuzzi, it was clean, not very busy and well maintained. The Pool has a strong oxide smell that made me doubt going in, if you can deal with the smell, the pool is actually okay and big enough for a good morning swim, although the space feels really dark and not very inviting. *SPA: Sadly, there was no service available for the spa during our visit, but the common areas there are really nice to get some coffee, read next to the chimney and get some water before the sauna. *Restaurant: -Breakfast Buffet: It has what you need to start the day with enough variation. Not too many options but fresh bread, fruit, granola, eggs and bread spreads. The coffee was okay, the orange juice is not fresh but the Fruit Juices are really nice! -Dinner: I ordered some Pasta alfredo with shrimps and I received a small portion of pasta with literally 4 shrimps for 24 euros. The taste was okay, nothing to highlight. Besides that they offer Soups, Fish and other main dishes and Side dishes. The Space for the restaurant is really nice and spacious. Service: The Service was okay! Not very engaging but kind if you ask for something or request something. I asked for them to please clean the shower mold and dirt and they did it the next day. In short words: If you are used to budget travelling you'll have an amazing time here. It's private and it has what you need to get through. If you are looking for a more luxurious experience you might have to keep an open mind and see the best out of it. From what I researched, the Hotel has a new management and they are really trying to make changes in the building structure and service dynamics. Always worth it to give them a try!

A beautiful, lovely location with super friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was delicious! We had a wonderful stay!
