Hampton Inn Greenwood, MS

We had the worst experience at the Hampton Inn Greenwood after previously having good stays there. When we arrived, the elevator was out of service. The staff said this was mentioned on the website when booking, but we do not recall seeing that anywhere. We were placed on the top floor while I am five months pregnant, which made getting to our room extremely difficult. Once we made it upstairs, our room key did not work, and staff had to come open the door for us. When we entered the room, it was clearly not cleaned. There was mold in the shower, hair all over the bathroom floor, and a red sticky substance on the sink handle. The room floors had not been vacuumed and there was trash left from the previous guest. The bed was also not properly made. It only had a bottom sheet that was inside out, no top sheet, and the comforter was for a smaller bed and did not fit the king-size mattress. We attempted to call the front desk using the room phone, but the phone did not work. We then tried calling from our cell phones and received no answer. We only stayed one night and requested a full refund at checkout due to the condition of the room. The front desk employee took our information but apparently never passed it along to the manager. After multiple calls, we finally reached the manager the next day and were told we would receive a full refund. That was almost a month ago, and the refund has still not been processed. We have called multiple times this week and have either been told to call back when the manager is in or received no answer at all. I also requested a call back and never received one. I rarely make posts like this, but after being promised a refund and still receiving no follow-up or communication, I don’t know what else to do. Unfortunately, if I could give this hotel negative stars, I would.

Hotel is OK. Nothing great. Customer service is ok. Upon arriving to check in I found signs on the entrance doors “Elevators not working” I asked if I could get a room on the first floor since the elevators are not working. Of course all of the room on the first floor are taken. I told the front desk I would go find another hotel because my luggage is heavy and i cant carry it up and down steps. She offered to carry it for me. Ended up a guest carried my luggage for me. What bothers me is management is unapologetic and lack apathy. The elevators have been out since September 2025. People travel from all across the country. Just because you as staff are use to it doesn't mean others are and are ok with it. To make the statement “we cant shut the hotel down because the elevators don’t work” is ignorant, unapologetic and lack empathy. They have had 6 months to come up with a plan to help customers with luggage. Do better.

Nice hotel and stafg. They need more luggage carts.
