Hampton Inn Kansas City/Blue Springs

Rooms were clean and cozy for a quick stay, exactly what we were looking for. Location is near the Curling Club we were visiting, as well as plenty of food and retail options nearby too. Great hotel for the value! Breakfast wasn't anything major, but included in the room and a hot waffle is always great!

My vehicle was broken into while I was a guest at this Hampton Inn on the day after Christmas. I was parked in the closest space to the lobby entrance, in broad daylight, directly in front of two visible security cameras. This was not a hidden corner of the lot, not overnight, and not an isolated area. It was one of the most visible parking spots on the property. The idea that someone could break into a vehicle there without being seen or captured on camera is not believable and defies basic common sense. Police were called and a report was filed with the Blue Springs Police Department. What I was later told by hotel is that nothing was seen on camera because of “camera blind spots.” That explanation is laughable and suspicious. This property has numerous cameras lining the building perimeter and covering each entrance and exit. The idea that someone could break into a car parked directly in front of the hotel entrance, surrounded by cameras, and somehow not appear on any footage does not pass a basic reality check. What makes this worse is the total lack of respect and communication. I contacted hotel management to request simple confirmation that the relevant camera footage was reviewed and preserved for the police investigation. I was not asking to view footage or make accusations, just confirmation that the incident was taken seriously. Received an automated email saying someone from hotel management would reach out within 48 hours. I received no response. It’s been 3 weeks. I escalated the issue to Hilton Guest Relations. Again, no response. The listed owner of this property is Ashish Patel, whom I contacted directly before escalating further. Weeks later, there has still been total silence. As for the hotel itself: Location is right off I-70, so convenient, but it was mediocre at best. The rooms were decent enough, but nothing special. Breakfast was eh, very average and forgettable. There is nothing about this property that stands out in a positive way to offset how poorly this situation was handled. Overall, this was a nasty experience, and based on how it was handled, I will not be returning. Crime can happen anywhere. But when it happens in plain view, during the day, directly in front of cameras, and the response is vague explanations followed by no communication at all, guests are right to question what they’re being told. I’m posting this so future guests are aware: This location is not safe, I caught a woman going door to door trying people’s hotel door handles. Also wife and I woke up a few mornings with random red welts on arms and legs, there may be bedbugs. If something happens to your vehicle or personal belongings, even in the most visible part of the property, do not expect transparency or follow-up.
