HappyNest Hostel Cebu

By Far the worst hostel I ever stayed at! I stayed there last week, from November 13 to 16, but only managed to stay for three nights because I couldn’t tolerate the noise. Every room was extremely noisy—you could hear everything, even footsteps, the staff downstairs, and the loud music. I was there to take an important exam and desperately needed rest, but I wasn’t able to sleep at all because of the constant noise. If you are planning to stay here for an exam or need a place to rest, look elsewhere. You have been warned. This is the worst place I have ever stayed at. The only good thing about the place is the location, just a 5-minute walk from my testing center and close to the church. Other than that, the room was smelly, had no proper ventilation, and there were cracks all over the walls, making it feel unstable, as if the wall might collapse at any moment. Everything was dirty. I was supposed to receive at least one bottle of mineral water per day, but even that wasn’t provided. I complained several times, and they moved me to another room, but it didn’t help because it was just as dirty—it felt like one of their semi-stock rooms. I ended up going back to my original room because I was desperate to get even a little sleep. I had another exam the next day and still couldn’t rest. On the last night, I ended up staying at my friend’s rented condo instead. For context, I stayed in one of their “deluxe” solo rooms with an attached bathroom and paid over 1,800 PHP per day—no breakfast included. Honestly, it’s far too expensive for the condition of the place. I wouldn’t stay there again even if it were only 300 PHP per day. The staff were at least nice, but that’s the only positive thing I can say. I will never go back there.

Helpful staff and good location nearby downtown

If you are from Europe, avoid this place. It is worse than you expect. I only stayed one night because I had to go to the port early in the morning, but I couldn't sleep - the staff was laughing and talking loudly all night. The light from the hallway shines directly into the room. There are no blankets, just thin TV blankets - there is only one for two people and you have to pay extra for the second one, otherwise you have nothing to cover yourself with. The toilet in the lobby is unusable, the smell is extreme. The hostel is generally unclean and neglected. There are children and animals sleeping on the couches in the hostel. Outside the hostel at night, children sleep on cardboard boxes and there are rats running around. I have never stayed in worse conditions in all my travels. I wanted to leave the place right away, but you can't walk around Cebu City after dark. Absolutely not for me - the worst accommodation I've ever visited, even for just a few hours 🙃 If there was a place to stay, I would leave immediately.
