Staying at this ryokan was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with genuine kindness and attention to detail. The rooms were beautifully maintained and the area was peaceful, creating the perfect short circuit relaxation for our Japan travels. We stayed in the rooms with private onsen which overlooked the mountains and offered such a serene view of the surrounding nature! We also had an exceptional kaiseki dinner and with special thanks to Tram who looked after us so politely! We also loved the hospitality from Loan who helped smoothly checked us in and out and went out of her way to organise taxi’s for us. Most of all, their welcoming smiles made us feel very warm. The hospitality by these two staff members particularly, as well as the other staff, made this experience all the more special and unforgettable! I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a truly authentic and rejuvenating experience.

Had the most relaxing stay here. Private Onsen is definitely worth it for full relaxation while bathing but enjoyed the public Onsen too. Facilities all well maintained and food was incredible! Hotel staff all very welcoming and polite.

I had a wonderful time at Kintoen. As usual for ryokans I got greeted at the door and could store my luggage until check-in. The welcoming as well as the check-in were really warm and nice, no communication problems (English works fine) and I felt valued as a guest from my first step I took into the hotel. My room was clean and nice, the beds were wonderfully comfortable and the private onsen which my room was equipped with was great for relaxing after an exciting day at Hakone. Tried the Kaiseki dinner and it was very tasteful. Also the yukatans are nice and comfy. Enjoyed also the cosy lounge with complementary tea/coffee. There‘s also a vending machine providing beer, highballs and softdrinks (costs extra but reasonably priced). Overall it was just WONDERFUL. The staff takes really good care of their guests and I honestly regret not having booked a third night. Just one thing that is (in my opinion) improvable: more towels would be nice. My room was equipped with only one shower/bathing towel overall, none for the sink. Given that my room had an own onsenbath and showering thats too little. I recommend two bathing towels per person and one for the sink. But nevertheless: when I asked for new towels they were brought up to my room immediately, so thats not really a complaint! 10 min walk to the station, 15 up to the hotel since you walk uphill. I recommend the way that leads around the town (use google maps), that‘s less steep and takes max 5 mins longer. If you‘re travelling with lots of luggage I recommend taking a taxi from the station, because the way leads uphill quite a bit (~1800 ¥ for the taxi is quite ok :-) ) I would love to come back some time.
