Positive: The location is excellent, right in the heart of the old town center, where everything is easily accessible on foot. It's a lovely old building with a few individually decorated rooms. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms vary considerably, and after one night we were able to move to a quiet one. Room 205 is quiet and also easy to darken, which isn't always the case. Everything was very clean, there was plenty of storage space, and the rooms are larger than average. Negative: Initially, they wanted to give us a room on the top floor, which is accessed by steep stairs, even though we had requested a lower floor. The first room—a luxury suite—was nicely furnished, but very noisy because it faced the street. It also couldn't be properly darkened. At breakfast, we missed having yogurt and a wider selection of fruit.

This hotel is a renovated traditional Japanese house, and the reception and open-air atrium have a tasteful atmosphere. The building itself is old, but the rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast is not luxurious, but it was well-prepared and very delicious.

Worth! Heeren Palm Suites offers the largest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Everything feels very new, almost as if it has just been refurbished. With only 10 rooms, the hotel feels exceptionally spacious, and the common areas give off a quiet, five-star boutique atmosphere. What I really appreciate is how they have preserved some of the original Peranakan house details from the previous owner, adding character and heritage to the stay. The interior design is simple, elegant, and thoughtfully done—featuring subtle Peranakan elements without being excessive, and minimal furniture that enhances the sense of space and comfort. I was also pleasantly surprised that they use centralised air-conditioning, which adds to the overall comfort. The breakfast is simple yet looks delicious and well prepared. Their online customer service is also excellent—they kept me well updated through email and even took the time to thank me, which I really appreciated.
