HiBird- Apartment and Suites Hotel

This is a 2 star hotel. Not clean or well maintained. Couch had visible stains. Showerhead clogged and dirty. No A/C in bathroom shower!! So the window was left open when I arrived, meaning I had to spend first few hours killing mosquitos and bugs were always flying around my room no matter what. Lights, hooks, and everything in weird, unreachable places...like zero thoughts went into design usability... (Towel hooks installed *behind* the shower door, really?) Also if you're going to put these stupid "curbless" showers in, then make sure the doors actually close properly and the floors slope down to the drain properly. Every shower means puddles of water all the way from the toilet to hallway. Staff was fine, but it wasn't even clear how to get into this place and I spent an extra 20 minutes driving around the block in bumper to bumper just to get back to find the tiny, narrow entrance between a construction site and the barely visible "parking garage" (big quotes). Street is bumper to bumper traffic due to the location, and there is NO DRIVEWAY to pull into, just a narrow alley. Have you ever tried to turn a car 45 degrees from a one-way street down into an alley?? Good luck with that. The parking garage has some of the most ridiculously undersized parking spaces I've ever seen... These shouldn't even be legally allowed to be called "parking spaces". Even the smallest compact car, you literally have 3" of clearance AT BEST on both sides, after you spend 20 minutes trying to pull in or out, backing up and forward 20-30x and constantly getting in and out of your vehicle to check clearances, unless you have an assistant to help you park. Good luck getting in and out without damaging your rental car!! You can see all the marks all over the walls from where everyone had damages their cars. I spent the whole time worrying if my car would be damaged by whomever parked next me opening their door into my car, because you can't even open the doors to the car without hitting the car next to you. Seriously, how is designing a 4' wide "parking space" like this even legal!??? One of the pools is also in the SHADE buried between the 2 buildings, so what good is that? A moon tan?? It's also split into buildings, a maze of elevators that will take a few wrong turns and maybe 2 days to figure out how to get from building A to B (e.g. the pool) using the most efficient route without traversing multiple (slow) elevators and stairs. (Usually, I just ended up walking up stairs to the 3rd floor pool, as the shaded one on the ground floor was unusable to me and I didn't feel like waiting for the elevators...and the hotel wasn't even that busy. They're just slow elevators. They must be almost unusable in peak season...you'll be taking the stairs.) I would definitely never stay here again. For a $50 more per night I could have gotten a much more upscale, major chain hotel, perhaps with an actual parking space, and definitely much better maintained and easy to get into and out of. Just not a very cramped, dingy, overpriced hotel that tries to be luxury but not nearly as nice as some Motel 6's or Knight Inn's I've stayed at, that were even cleaner, more modern, and more comfortable than this place. I know you are paying for a location close to the beach, but after actually staying here, I can say being right on Ashford Ave sucks... It's stressful and mega touristy, like if you think staying in Times Square is "experiencing" NYC. Next time I would just choose a major chain hotel nearby for about the same price...and something that had an actual entrance and real garage.

Cancelation policy sucks and when I requested cancellation of the multiple rooms I booked they approved the cheaper ones and kept one they keep trying to charge my card so I blocked them from charging my card. Due to travel restrictions my trip was cancelled and I will BEVER plan on staying here in the future due to this horrible experience. I feel like they are money hungry it’s no way the airports was shut down and my flight was changed so I cancelled my trip all together now it’s a problem to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances.

BED BUGS!! Do not stay at this hotel! The beds and sofas are littered with bed bugs. We only stayed one nigh, woke up in the middle of the night not knowing what was bitting us. Our arms and legs had a bunch of bites!
