Beautiful city, great location and great staff. However a few issues I wasn't happy about. The view. Our view was of Edinburgh's finest scaffolding poles and scaffolding planks. It wasn't pleasant and I know this can't be helped but its quite jarring to see first thing when you draw your curtains - but I guess it's moderately better than a builder's arse picking up nails he's dropped as he's climbing down to grab a cup of tea and a bacon butty. I think maybe a warning to customers who've booked and a discount or alternative choice of room - or the opportunity to stay at a different hotel. The room. The room was nice, spacious. But it was visually cold and lacked finishing touches. Pictures on the walls in the living room would be nice. Something - anything - to make it feel a bit homely. It just felt empty, unfinished and a bit cold like the interior designer might have been an emotionless psychopath. Also, used to be traditional that when you got a suite you had (I dare say a mini bar) some chocolate and crisps in the fridge and i'm going to say it... even a mini bar. We opened the fridge to find it well stocked with air. Good quality Edinburgh air of course but not chocolate or a bit of shortbread. Heating. Where do I start? The heating had two positions - sauna hot or ice cold. Didn't matter what temperature you set, ice cold or sauna. So, to not suffocate we generally had to put it on until it got to 29 degrees then switch it off and enjoy the short time the room got to around 20 degrees. Then rinse, repeat etc. This was ok until day 2 when it PACKED UP COMPLETELY! So we just had the cold setting. We spoke to reception about it and they bought us up a small, oil filled radiator. Didn't plug it in, just dumped it in the bedroom. It was barely adequate to heat a room that size. Thankfully at about 3am on the morning we were leaving the heating came on and woke us up at about 38 degrees when we'd started to suffer from heat exhaustion! Overall, Edinburgh is beautiful full of history and the people are amazing. The hotel location is great and the people working there are friendly and helpful but as an operation it is cold, corporate, minimum and giving you the least they could possibly get away with. I think when you pay for hotel services you expect a few minimum features; A bed heating security lights If one of these is missing you are being short changed and heating is up there. You certainly don't expect to pay over the odds for a suite and sit there shivering looking at scaffolding poles. On this occassion..... should have gone to the Travelodge and paid significantly less. Hilton, I won't be coming back.

Keep coming back to uncleaned room. Spend 5 hours outside, come back to the room after 1 pm. Wonder why no one comes in the morning.
