Hilton Windhoek

Honestly the worst Hilton stay ever and we've stayed in Hiltons all over the world. We book for my birthday and to attend a few meetings in the area. We booked for 3 nights but was ready to check out after night 1. As it was my birthday I wanted a spa treatment. I emailed the spa directly 4 times and each email bounced back. I emailed the hotel in advance too to try to get spa menu and assistance with making a booking but received the response days later and it was too late. False advertising at spa, they clearly state on the Spa website as well as the Hiltons websites that they are open on Mondays but they are closed. I only found out when I checked in on the Sunday to make a Monday booking for my actual birthday and couldn’t. Dinner was very average. I emailed ahead to advise I’ve celiac disease and highly allergic to gluten. the staff at the restaurant wasn't too clued up and the food was average. They advertise having a sushi restaurant and bar but it's closed. We enquired how the executive lounge works as we wanted to have some clients over for a drink, they staff we asked said they don't know. WiFi was terrible. Intermittent and kept dropping. We ended up buying our own data for our modem. We couldn't do simple emails, texts, or even log on to online meetings with their wifi. Very unhelpful security at parking on arrival, he wouldn't even get off his chair when we wanted some assistance to ask a question. Also at 7am the next morning, the parking attendant was fast asleep on duty. The worst part - No hot water from 6am till after 2pm on Monday. I was furious as its my birthday, I could not shower or wash my hair and had to cancel my 2 morning meetings. I put leave in conditioner in the my hair and there was no way I could go to meetings looking like that. When the water issue was sorted, the water was still lukewarm. I can safely say that not once during our stay was the water hot... lukewarm at most. Sunday evening there was a lot of noise coming from the rooftop bar. We were on 3rd floor but noise from rooftop carries down. Parking was a joke! There’s no parking included in the room rate and we had to pay extra per day. The Toilet lid broke on the first evening and even though the cleaning crew serviced the room, it was not fixed during our stay. At 08:00am tried to order cappuccino and it took forever, when you need to get to meetings on time, this is super frustrating. Coffee in the room not refilled, so you forced to go down and buy a coffee on morning 2,3,4... A super disappointing stay. I will definitely not go back

We stay at the Hilton in Windhoek regularly and unfortunately the overall management of the property seems to be declining. During our most recent stay the breakfast restaurant was not properly stocked. Basic items such as butter and fruit were out of stock, and there did not appear to be any effort to replenish them, even though nearby options like the neighbouring Garden Inn or local shops could easily have solved the issue. In the end we decided to have breakfast at Seattle Coffee nearby instead, which was a much better experience. The rooms themselves are still very nice, but it is evident that regular inspection and maintenance is lacking. For example, the door of the work desk was falling off because of a loose screw, drawers were off their rails, and the furniture simply needs small repairs and a bit of attention. The fixtures in the bathroom also need maintenance: the toilet sensor was running continuously, wasting water, and one of the showers only had cold water due to a broken mixer. These issues had already been reported during a previous stay but unfortunately had still not been fixed. The hotel offers a WhatsApp line to check on guest satisfaction. Responses are quick when feedback is positive, but when reporting problems the messages tend to go unanswered. This is disappointing because Namibia generally offers excellent hospitality and Hilton usually represents a high service standard. Out of more than 50 nights I spent at Hilton properties this year, this was unfortunately the weakest stay. I hope management takes this feedback constructively and brings the property back to the level it deserves.
