Run away! Review of this disgusting hotel, 3,400 baht. An experience I'd like to warn my friends about (I warned you!) I stayed at the Hmong Hilltribe Lodge Chiang Mai Hotel, Hmong Lodge Resort, Mae Rim, Chiang Mai. I opened the door to my room and was immediately greeted by a musty smell. The room was dark, with trees blocking the view. The bathroom walls were moldy. I tried to wipe it with tissue paper, but it still smelled musty. The towels were thin, old, yellow, and torn. The foot mats looked like old, unusable fabric. The tablecloths were faded and worn. The blankets were torn. The woven bamboo walls were dusty and dusty everywhere. There was mold under the sofa's mattress. The view was blocked by trees. The view shown on the page was very deceiving. There wasn't even a notepad or pencil in the room, and no phone was available. When I tried to shower, the water heater wasn't working. I had to call back, but I had to use my cell phone. The male staff member came back and said I'd have to wait 20 minutes. I ended up showering in freezing cold water in Chiang Mai on a mountain in winter, and ended up having to use the hot water in the adjoining room instead. I told the staff I wanted to change rooms. The female staff member said I couldn't. The response was unserviceable, uncaring, and didn't put the customer at ease. Overall, the hotel is very old and lacks proper maintenance, especially for a price of just over 3,000 baht. This is the worst place I've ever stayed at. There are many places with better quality for just over 1,000 baht. I'm writing this review because I'm afraid others will have the same bad experience. There are so many beautiful places to stay in Chiang Mai. Don't be fooled by coming here. “Run away! The room was dark, the view was blocked by overgrown trees, and the bathroom walls were moldy. I tried pulling out a tissue to wipe things down, but even the tissue itself smelled musty. The towels were thin, old, yellowish, and fraying. The bath mat looked like reused scrap cloth. The tablecloth was faded and worn. The blanket was torn. The bamboo-woven walls were full of dust in every corner. The underneath of the mattress and so-far bed surface is al moldy. I tried looking outside, but the trees completely blocked the view. The “view” shown on their webpage is extremely misleading. Inside the room, there wasn’t even paper and a pencil for writing—no phone for contacting the staff either. When I went to take a shower, the water heater didn’t work. I had to call the staff using my own mobile phone. A male staff member came and told me to wait 20 minutes. After all that waiting, the water was still freezing cold. Imagine taking an ice-cold shower on a winter night on a mountain in Chiang Mai. In the end, I had to use a different adjacent room just to get warm water. I told the staff that I wanted to change rooms, but a female staff member bluntly said it was not possible. Her manner showed zero service mindset—she was indifferent and did nothing to ease the customer’s concerns. Overall, this hotel is old and poorly maintained—completely not worth the price. I’m writing this review because I don’t want anyone else to go through this terrible experience. There are plenty of beautiful accommodations in Chiang Mai. Please don't make the mistake of staying here.
