On the plus side, the staff were very efficient and helpful. Not the greatest experience I have had at a HI. The basin in the bathroom was cracked. The shower over the bath was very good, plenty of power and good temperature, however the bath screen was not long enough to stop water spraying all over the floor. The hotel website did warn that the bar wouldn't be open but failed to mention that also meant no restaurant apart from breakfast, necessitating a lengthy walk in the freezing weather to find somewhere open for dinner.

WARNING- do not book at this hotel. I booked in October and prepaid for 2 rooms just after Christmas. Two weeks before, they sent me a message telling me I had to 1) cancel the reservations or 2) accept a new reservation at a different hotel because they overbooked the hotel. Mind you, option 2 did not have parking, the cost was more, and did not have the beds to accomodate what I had booked. As you can imagine, the rooms available 2 weeks before, were insanely expensive. We had to end up diverting our trip away from Salzburg entirely and cancel our plans there. This is inexcusable. DO NOT RISK your vacation and avoid booking here.
