Hollywood Beach Flamingo

This place is simply the worst. The older lady at the front desk always is rude no matter what you do, this is not a 3.5 star hotel. At the most a 1 star motel the. The rooms are falling apart, they smell and things were broken and mildew. On Priceline they are put as a 3.5 star casino! Not the case at all save your money it might be right on the beach but was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The manger was nice but that is about all. Also you have to pay for parking on top of the really high hotel fees.

We spent 2 night at Flamingo Hollywood Beach Hotel before a 7 day cruise. I will start with the positives. It is a very easy and wonderful location. The area is absolutely beautiful and VERY close to the beach. The obvious spots of the room were clean not overly clean but clean.The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and was the cleansed thing in the room. The price was great but that is also the beginning of the negatives. The first thing we noticed was that you cannot check in at the hotel. This company owns many hotels in the area and you check in and out at one location several streets away from where you stay. The only way that we knew that was a sign on the building. They only have 4 or 5 spots for check in and they were all filled. While the staff is very nice and helpful they can only do what they can do. There was only one person at the check in/out desk both times we were there. The check in area was packed both times. Checking in after a long day of travel and having to drive around waiting for a spot and then having to wait in the area of 30 minutes isn't ideal. Check out was even worse. I parked in a no parking spot and hoped that I would not be ticketed. Check out took about 40 minutes because I arrived to check out 30 minutes before checkout time. It took 45ish minutes to get to the agent and 30 seconds to check out. We were tired when we arrived so once we did our bed bug check we went right to sleep. When we woke up the next morning we noticed that the spots that weren't so obvious were not clean and the ceiling in the bathroom had a 6" diameter black mold spot. The walls around the light switches were very gross and there were many things broken. Both my wife and I use CPAPS and thank goodness we brought extension cords because there wasn't very many plugs in the room and none of those were close to the beds. My wife plugged the cord into one plug and could hear electrical crackling. It is also a good thing that the area is nice and seems very safe because the doors were in horrible shape. The locks were not tight and were moving around when you would open and close the door. I am positive with a tug someone could have gotten in the room. I am very thankful that we were only going to be there 2 nights and that we would be gone most of the time sightseeing before our cruise.

I actually ended up staying at the Neptune because my room at the Flamingo wasn't ready. It's all owned by the same Hollywood Beach Hotels. Check in was pretty slow but we appreciated the accommodation of being placed where there was availability and it ended up being a bit closer to the beach than our original reservation. The room was very small but cute, clean and had everything we needed. We plan to make this a semi regular getaway.
