Arrived early and was able to get into room, which was a great plus, but that is where the good news ended. Other than the convenient gas station, there is nothing very close by. The rooms heater had a fan that would not operate. When I asked the hotel about it, they sent a maintenance tech to the room, who simply pointed an infrared gun at the heater outlet and said, is 102 degrees up there, heat is fine. I told him that heat rises and hence the fan operation included in the machine......which is not working. He just shrugged and left. Went to go get coffee. Apparently it is no longer an amenity, and they want to charge 4-5 dollars a cup behind the counter because the machine says Starbucks. The room is clean but sparsely furnished with an entire side of the room in empty open space. the kitchen is functional, but all supplies are hastily piled on a shelf under the stovetop, no drawers. All in all a disappointing run for a usually good chain. I have had some bad experiences in hotels, but this is quite possibly the worst Homewood I have ever stayed at. Mind you I spend most of my year in Hilton properties, so that is a bad sign. Edit: No more than 5 minutes after this original post, they tried to check another person into my room....... Guy opened the door, and may I say, we were both a little stunned.
