Hostal Funky By Arc House

We arrived on a Saturday at 1:30 PM, having received no email or any information about check-in. We contacted them through the number displayed on the building entrance, as well as a QR code. We wrote and called, initially receiving no response. After several attempts, they finally answered, rudely and without resolving anything. We called again since they had hung up on us the first time. They told us we had to fill out the information on a link they had sent us. We managed to log in and get the key. We went up to the room, which left much to be desired for several reasons: the mattress was very worn, the pillows had hardly any filling, the bathroom was tiny, barely big enough to fit in; and, of course, there was no hot water at all. Their solution was for us to wait an hour for the water heater to refill. After that call, we waited several hours, and the water was still cold, just like it had been in the morning and throughout the rest of the day. When we booked the room, the agency we used told us there was luggage storage available at checkout. However, when we contacted them again, they told us it opens at 10:00 AM and costs €6 per person. It's also worth noting that check-in was at 3:00 PM and check-out was at 10:00 AM, which I don't think is normal. You can't get any rest at night because of the state of the facilities and the noise—banging, shouting... basically everything.

We had a TERRIBLE experience. To begin with, we never received the check-in link (neither through Booking.com nor by email). We were standing outside the door in 5-degree weather at 7:30 PM, trying to enter our details to get into the hostel. Not to mention the poor telephone service, as they don't have a reception desk. Once we entered the hotel, we found a lobby that smelled musty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. The room was more of the same. Poor cleaning, the towels were dirty and smelled strange, there weren't as many towels as specified when we made the reservation, a tiny bathroom where you couldn't even sit comfortably, the room was completely soundproof, the curtains didn't fully cover the windows, the pillows were flat, and the mattress was soft and worn out… They even came into the room just to empty the bathroom trash can. It's not worth spending a single euro on a room at this hostel, despite the low price. Finally, we weren't given the option to rate our stay on Booking.com either; they must not want us to give our opinion. I regret not reading the Google reviews before booking. The only positive thing about this hostel is its location.

We booked two rooms, both at the same price (€67 for one Saturday night each), but the difference was enormous. My room was tiny, barely enough space for our suitcases. The shower, besides being a bit of a drain, was ridiculously small; you could hardly move. The worst part was the ants; they were everywhere and kept multiplying. The mattress was very good, though, but the pillows weren't. The other room was much larger, with a bathtub and plenty of space, even including a wardrobe. The smell upon entering the building was very unpleasant; we even bought an air freshener for the room. The location is perfect, but if you're facing the alley, there's a lot of street noise.
