Hotel Abaco

We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for a short vacation. The spectacular location allowed us to reach Florence's main attractions on foot. It's just 5 minutes from the Santa Maria Novella train station and a few minutes from the city center. The room was cozy with a private bathroom, small but equipped with every comfort. The staff was always helpful and friendly. The housekeeping was impeccable. We had a great time and would definitely choose it again if we were to return.

I do not recommend this accommodation. This place should not even operate as a lodging facility. It is promoted on Booking as a hotel, but it does not meet any proper standards. The rooms are extremely small, dirty, poorly maintained, and very old. The furniture is outdated, unstable, damaged, and in need of repair or even replacement. The “king-size” bed is actually made of two twin beds that are defective, unstable, move constantly, and could break at any time. There is no space in the room to open two suitcases. The fireplace is old, broken, and non-functional. A mini-fridge is placed between the fireplace and the table, leaving no room to properly open it. There is also a blue chair placed inside the fireplace area, which you cannot even unfold due to lack of space. There is a small, non-functional sink inside the room with an extremely small and dirty mirror. There is a narrow ledge where, if you place two items, they are about to fall. The air conditioner leaks during the night when in use. The bathroom is very small and shared between seven rooms, without proper safety measures. We did not receive towels or disposable slippers. The staff was not very cooperative. To reach the second floor, where Hotel Baco is located, you must climb a narrow and very difficult spiral staircase. Even the reception area is extremely small and cramped. The staff started vacuuming and cleaning at 11:30 p.m., slamming things around, and then began preparing breakfast at 5:30 a.m., even though breakfast is only served starting at 8:30 a.m. Plates were being slammed and there was constant noise, which woke me up. In the end, they only serve an espresso coffee and a croissant. There is absolutely no reason to set the table three hours in advance. It is not hygienic, it is not clean, and I do not recommend this accommodation. It should be removed from booking platforms.

Excellent location, close to the train station and a short walk from the city center. I appreciated the cleanliness, the kindness of the staff, and the indefinite luggage storage option. I didn't give it 5 stars because the rooms could use some updating, especially the amenities.
