Hôtel Albe Bastille

Super fun, friendly staff. Very nice neighborhood. Centrally located.

We stayed three nights at the Hôtel Albe Bastille in Paris for a relaxing trip and a couple's anniversary. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay, with a few minor points for improvement. The room was nice, clean, and had very comfortable bedding. However, we found it very (even too) warm, even after turning off the radiators, which meant we had to sleep with the window slightly open to be more comfortable. In the bathroom, the lack of a shower curtain meant that water tended to splash everywhere, and the ventilation wasn't powerful enough: steam quickly filled the room. The soundproofing could also be improved, as the room was slightly noisy at times. As for the reception, this is a real strength of the hotel: the team is warm, friendly, available, and attentive. The staff is very caring, very responsive to any needs in the room, and provides excellent recommendations for restaurants and outings in the neighborhood. Special mention goes to the receptionist, who was smiling, pleasant, fun, and funny, with a charming Slovak accent, and immediately put guests at ease. The breakfast was good and varied, more than enough to start the day off right. The room was cleaned daily, with the option of having fresh towels every day, which was much appreciated. The location is ideal: a metro station nearby, a very pleasant neighborhood, well-served by restaurants and bars, with a safe and friendly atmosphere. We felt the value for money was good and consistent with the photos and descriptions on the website. In short, a good place to stay that we recommend, especially for a couple's trip to Paris, with a very warm welcome and a convenient location, despite a few minor issues that could be improved in the room and bathroom.

The stay was an absolute nightmare. The room itself was so tiny, you could barely move around in it, and on top of that, it was extremely poorly furnished, everything was incredibly cramped and awkwardly laid out. I couldn't even open the front door or the bathroom door properly. The room was right next to the street, which was extremely noisy at night, as it's a busy street with bars and restaurants. The windows let in a lot of noise. I fell out of the much too narrow bed onto the hard tiles in the middle of the night and am still suffering from shock and injuries. In the morning, I was woken up by the cleaning staff and furniture being moved in the room above. It was truly a nightmare and also terrible value for money. The only positive thing: the receptionist was friendly.
