Hotel Arstainn

Let me make it clear first. The staff did nothing wrong. It's something the staff couldn't do anything about, so I'm giving it this rating. The front desk staff were very helpful, so I headed to my room as usual. I was about to go to sleep, but I heard a noise coming from somewhere. The mysterious phenomenon continued, with the sound suddenly getting louder and then disappearing. Even though it's called a mysterious phenomenon, there are no such thing as paranormal phenomena in the Reiwa era, so I tried to figure out what the cause might be. Air conditioner? Ventilation fan? The sound didn't stop even after turning off all the switches. I tried to hold it in, but it was just after 2am when I realized it. It seems that the sounds of the bathroom plumbing in the floor above (or maybe not directly above) can be heard downstairs. The sounds of the water running and flushing—maybe because the floor is thin or the pipes are affecting it—are echoing and can be heard. I couldn't ask the person upstairs not to take a bath or use the toilet, so I continued to hold it in, and by 5am, I hadn't had a wink of sleep. You might think that they could have just moved to another room, but it was after 2am and I didn't have the energy to move with my luggage. I wrote that it was something that the staff couldn't do anything about, but if they ever read this review, I would like them to investigate the cause of the noise. What kind of sound can you hear from the floor below when you flush the toilet? I've stayed in many hotels across the country, but this is the first time I've experienced a hotel where the noise echoes to this extent. If my hypothesis is correct, then when the hotel is fully booked and there are no rooms available, they should be able to accommodate by showing you to a room where the noise doesn't echo. I'm a first-time guest and I don't know when I'll next visit Maizuru, but I want to make sure that no one else has to pay money and put up with it like I did, so I'm writing this.

It's a 20-minute walk from the ferry terminal. It's close to the station and the coffee is delicious! The room and unit bath are clean. The bed was comfortable! The staff were always smiling and welcoming. I'll definitely come again.

This is a business hotel located in front of Higashi-Maizuru Station. It's somewhat on the back side of the station and feels a little run-down. Check-in began almost exactly on time at 2:50 PM.
