My recent stay at the Hotel Barcelona Condal Mar was nothing short of spectacular. It is rare to find a hotel that perfectly balances cutting-edge modern design with such a warm, welcoming atmosphere and incredible value for money. 🏨 Design and First Impressions From the moment you arrive, the hotel’s iconic circular architecture makes a bold statement. The lobby is bright, spacious, and sophisticated, setting the tone for a high-end experience. The vibe is chic yet incredibly inviting—perfect for business travelers and vacationers alike. 🛏️ The Room: A Sanctuary of Comfort My room was a masterpiece of modern comfort. The cleanliness was spotless (which is a top priority for me), and the bed was honestly one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. Thanks to the excellent soundproofing, I didn't hear a sound from the outside world, ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep after long days of exploring the city. The bathroom was sleek, spacious, and stocked with premium toiletries. 🏊 The Highlight: The Rooftop Pool & Terrace The absolute "wow" factor of this hotel is the rooftop pool. The 360-degree views of Barcelona are simply breathtaking—watching the sunset over the Mediterranean on one side and the city skyline on the other with a cocktail in hand was the highlight of my trip. The rooftop bar staff are friendly and make fantastic drinks! 🍽️ A Breakfast Worth Waking Up For The breakfast buffet was outstanding. It offered an extensive variety of fresh fruit, artisanal pastries, and made-to-order hot dishes. The quality of the ingredients was top-notch, and I was impressed by the many options available for those with dietary restrictions (gluten-free and dairy-free). 📍 Strategic Location Located in the modern Diagonal Mar district, the hotel offers a refreshing escape from the crowded tourist centers while remaining perfectly connected. The metro station is just a short walk away, taking you to the heart of the city in about 15 minutes. Plus, the beautiful Nova Mar Bella beach is just a stroll away—ideal for a morning walk or an evening by the sea. 🌟 World-Class Staff What truly sets this hotel apart is the people. Every staff member I encountered was professional, genuinely kind, and went out of their way to provide local recommendations for restaurants and hidden gems that made my trip even more special. At first glance, the hotel looks fine, but two nights were enough to realize it doesn't meet Meliá's standards. The bathtub had mold, it wasn't cleaned properly, and the rooms smelled musty. Furthermore, our room had two broken lights that didn't illuminate half the room. We have a baby who drinks from a bottle, and when we went down to the bar to ask for a glass of milk in the evening, they told us, "We don't normally do that." I told them not to give it to me for free, but they still refused; we had to insist a lot. They offered us a 2-for-1 breakfast promotion at check-in, but when we checked out, they wanted to charge us without the promotion because there had been no communication between reception and the restaurant—a complete disaster. At dinnertime, there was a buffet for those with half-board, and we wanted watermelon for our child (of course, we were going to pay for it), and they told us that even if we paid, we couldn't have any watermelon. You can hear absolutely everything through the walls. What's more, some people act as if they have the right to bang on the wall demanding silence at 8 pm if a baby cries for two minutes (it wasn't more than two minutes). On our last day at breakfast, we ordered an omelet and were told they were very busy, so the number of ingredients was limited—something they hadn't mentioned the day before. It's truly disappointing to go to a hotel expecting a similar level of service because it's affiliated with Meliá. This hotel is far from deserving of the affiliation.
