Hotel Behrmann

The hotel is centrally located in the Blankenese district of Hamburg. It has a parking lot and an underground garage. Public transport connections are good (bus stop approx. 50 m from the hotel / Blankenese S-Bahn station approx. 500 m). It is a more family-run hotel with standard amenities and not a large, impersonal hotel belonging to a major chain. Our room was spacious. The furnishings were functional. Only the carpet was clearly a bit old and outdated. The bathroom was modern and in good condition, but quite small and cramped in our room (the bathrooms in the rooms of other guests were somewhat larger). The bathroom was equipped with a heated towel rail. You should remove the towels from the rail if you want it to function as a heater. Our room also had a walk-in closet. Our room faced the courtyard/parking lot at the back and was very quiet. Overall, everything was very clean. The buffet breakfast was included in the price and offered pretty much everything you could want: various types of rolls and bread, cold cuts, cheese, butter/margarine, cream cheese, jams, Nutella, muesli, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, mini meatballs, juices, etc. Coffee and tea were brought to the table. On the last day (Monday), there were only one or two whole-grain rolls left. However, they were replenished upon request. The staff was very friendly overall. We had a good idea of what to expect beforehand, for example, from the photos on the hotel's website, and were therefore not disappointed. If the opportunity arises, we would gladly return. Perhaps the hotel team could consider adding a vending machine for drinks and snacks, which would be a welcome addition, allowing guests to easily purchase refreshments at short notice.

The gentleman (an older man) at reception was extremely unfriendly... I've never experienced anything like it in any hotel before... We wanted to pay the day before departure, but he claimed we had booked an extra night, which we definitely had. He told us we should read our confirmation properly, but I hadn't provided a phone number or email address. 😂 Of course, he initially insisted we pay, which thankfully we didn't have to do after a long and heated discussion. Furthermore, the room door was locked twice, so the bolt was engaged and the door was open, meaning my room was accessible to anyone all day! Absolutely unacceptable!!! My colleague's room wasn't even cleaned! Breakfast was highly recommended to us when we booked, I'd say all the cold cuts came from Aldi or somewhere similar. The rolls were huge and practically empty. Unfortunately, there was only UHT milk, no whole milk, and the coffee didn't taste good either. I don't usually write bad reviews, but I just had to in this case. That was the first and last time we stayed here... Max-Ole Menzel
