Hotel Casa Garay

The only positive thing I can say about the hotel is its excellent location; the Benito Juárez market is just steps away, and the 20 de Noviembre neighborhood is one block away. The location is very good. However, the service leaves much to be desired. First of all, the room we were given was next to the kitchen, so it was uncomfortable to hear the staff's voices at 7:00 am. Second, the bed is very hard; it's nothing like the room I booked through Booking.com. The headboard creaks terribly, and the bathroom is very small. Third, the service was terrible. They never offered us any tours, and the cleaning service was awful. It seemed like they only half-heartedly swept and mopped; it was obvious they didn't clean the bathroom, they didn't dust the tables, and they didn't change the towels. When we asked for new towels, it took them a very long time to bring them. Fourth; The food was terrible. When we had breakfast there, we were the only table (just two people). The service was slow, and the coffee was runny. The squash blossom quesadillas were cold; it seemed like they just dumped the blossoms onto the quesadillas and called it a day (without cooking them first). Fifth, the Wi-Fi was awful. At least in the room we were assigned, it barely worked (none of the internet options), and when it did, it was slow. The phone network was also unreliable; we had to leave the hotel to make calls. They never informed us that they closed the entrance door at a certain time each night. Overall, I don't recommend staying here. The only redeeming feature is the location. For future trips, I prefer to pay more for a better hotel with better service and customer care. The room photos on Booking.com are nothing like the actual rooms; they definitely need improvement.

Honestly, the hotel leaves much to be desired, especially in terms of cleanliness. We stayed for five days, and from the moment we arrived, it was clear the mirrors were dirty, the shower and nightstands were covered in dust, and the bed creaked with even the slightest movement. Our blankets were never changed and only washed once, and the floor was never mopped. We had to ask for fresh towels twice because they wouldn't change them. The kitchen was right outside the room, so we could hear noises and voices from early morning. The only redeeming qualities were the location (very central) and the friendly staff (some of them). It's a shame the poor cleaning service ruined our stay.

I'm a senior citizen, and when I arrived at the room the first day, I noticed it was very damp and cold. I couldn't sleep that night because of the cold. The cost of a 2-star hotel room was very high. The bed was uncomfortable, and the room service wasn't very good either; the bottle of water only had about two fingers' worth of water, not even enough for a cup of coffee. It was as if the room hadn't been prepared for guests that day. I don't recommend it.
