Hotel Chems

I recently stayed at this hotel after booking through Love Holidays, where it is advertised as a four-star property. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect a four-star standard at all. The hotel feels very old and run down, with many facilities outdated or poorly maintained. Several electrical plugs in the room were not working, the safe was broken, and the bathroom sink would overflow whenever the tap was turned on. The windows were also poorly sealed — even when fully closed, cold air would come through, which made the room uncomfortable during our January stay when temperatures were low at night. The rooms also do not provide kettles, which made accessing hot water extremely difficult. In fact, getting proper hot water in general felt almost impossible. Even during breakfast hours, hot water was often unavailable, and we were left using lukewarm water which we had to microwave ourselves just to make it properly hot — something you would not expect from a hotel advertised as four-star. Breakfast was particularly disappointing. The variety of food was extremely limited and very basic. Utensils were not prepared or placed out properly, and requesting something as simple as a spoon felt like a burden to staff. I had to ask multiple staff members before receiving one, and there seemed to be a lack of organisation among the team. We also tried dinner at the hotel, which was overpriced for the quality and variety offered. There were only one or two options available, and guests were not allowed to bring food from outside without being threatened with a fine (around 150 dirhams), which felt unnecessarily restrictive. Housekeeping was another area that fell below expectations. Rooms were not cleaned proactively — we had to request cleaning ourselves — and even then the service felt incomplete. Floors were not properly cleaned, and it appeared that the same bed sheets were reused rather than replaced. The only positive aspect of this hotel is its location, which is conveniently close to the main market area. However, this alone does not make up for the overall lack of maintenance, poor organisation, and substandard food service. While the hotel may be more tolerable during warmer months when the cold is less noticeable, the overall quality of facilities, housekeeping, and dining does not meet the standards expected of a four-star hotel.

Thieves, we arrived at the hotel today with a prepaid reservation and the hotel had been closed for a few days, we made the reservation through algotels.com.
