Very disappointing for a 4-star hotel – catastrophic customer experience We had booked at the Hôtel de Paris in San Remo, thinking we had chosen a suite with a separate bedroom, essential with our three children, including a 2-month-old baby. Realizing my mistake, I immediately called the hotel. Mr. Simone, at the reception, assured me that it was possible to cancel free of charge, even if there were no suites available. Confident, I explained to him that I would book elsewhere, and he confirmed again that cancellation was a given and free of charge. I then sent three emails requesting written confirmation—without any response. The next day, upon arriving in San Remo, I received a call at 3:40 p.m. to finally be told that cancellation was not possible, even though I had already paid for other accommodations for my family. I went there: a frosty welcome. A very unpleasant Nadia told me they couldn't refund or cancel, but they could issue a credit note. The next morning, I was finally told there was no more credit note either: management stuck to its guns, without the slightest empathy. I was summoned to the hotel three times, only to be told it was "my mistake" and that I had to take responsibility, regardless of what their staff said or my unanswered emails. Worse still, Mr. Simone then explained that he thought I could cancel... but if I paid for the nights! How absurd: who cancels after paying? 👉 Result: a ruined weekend, when we were simply looking for a moment of rest after the birth of our child. No apologies, no goodwill gesture, no consideration for the customer. A 4-star hotel that acts like this is simply unacceptable. A complete lack of professionalism and empathy. I strongly advise against this establishment. Avoid it.
