It opened its doors in 1973 and has since become a city classic, located at 2129 Av. Colón, just steps from Plaza Colón. Interestingly, it was one of the first hotels in the city to incorporate a "health club" with a spa and heated pool, something that was a rare luxury in Mar del Plata's hotel industry during the 80s and 90s.

This stylish 4-star hotel has been renovated, including the bathrooms, some furniture, wall coverings, pool, and gym. The health club is limited to a mini-gym with five machines and accessories, a paid massage room (between $32,000 and $38,000), a Scottish shower, and a sauna. Reservations are required. The pool is small but charming. Towels are provided in both the pool and the gym, so guests don't have to use their room towels. Breakfast is a 7.5 out of 10; the pastry selection could be improved, and they should offer a wider variety of cheeses, not just the machine-made or spreadable kind. The coffee is mediocre. Sometimes you have to wait for them to replenish plates or glasses. On the 12th floor, room 1207 is noisy at night and early in the morning: it seems to be near motors from the laundry room or the water pump. This makes it difficult to sleep, especially with the constant smell of smoke coming in through the bathroom window. Another issue is the carpets: they were beautiful in their time, but now they accumulate stains and a musty smell; with such a variety of modern flooring options available, in terms of quality, texture, and cleanliness, it seems pointless to continue maintaining them. The staff was friendly, pleasant, and helpful. Dinner is available at the restaurant with a reservation. The menu is worth checking out.
