Hotel Europacity

Hello, Europacity Hotel. I would like to share my overall experience, with all due respect (room 403 reservation, January 12th to 15th). I wanted to share this with the receptionist at the end of my stay, but I didn't want to make him uncomfortable, and the brief final communication wasn't conducive to such an exchange. It's not my habit to leave anything other than a 100% positive review. My reviews are always 5/5. I considered writing my review by email, but I don't know who the recipient would be. I'm also being as modest as possible, as I work in sales. When I found this hotel, I called directly for information. The telephone reception was less than ideal (they hung up on me) and wasn't welcoming... I didn't feel comfortable. I followed up by email to confirm my stay (the replies were brief and sometimes without even a greeting...). For me, everything was convenient, including the price. I wrote in French, and the reply was in English (they don't adapt to their customers). It's a minor detail, admittedly. You have to ask if there's a bathtub plug. Feel free to bring a universal plug so you can enjoy taking baths. It's certainly economical for the hotel, and frankly, if the guest spends more time showering, it makes no difference. Following this, I read most of the reviews. I hesitated to cancel, but I wanted to honor my reservation, and for me, it was reassuring because I was leaving around 9:00 or 9:30 AM and returning before nightfall. For the price, you have to expect functionality, and you can't complain about what you already knew. There were a few minor issues in the room (upon my arrival), and out of respect, I'm not sure it was the housekeeping staff's fault, as I suspect management doesn't pay attention to these details (for example, they don't replace the large curtain if there's an old stain on it...). From what we know, thanks to reviews, the place wasn't safe at all and was very noisy. If you can't fall asleep with that much noise, I wouldn't even suggest bringing earplugs, as it could be a safety hazard. Again, for the price, I never used the phone there, so I didn't mention any of this. The view, however, is very nice. What's really lovely upon arrival is the welcome tray (good quality coffee, buttermilk, sugar, cups of water and coffee, and spatulas) and especially the kettle. In particular, the soaps provided smell wonderful. During my stay, even though I returned to my room early, I saw two people who were completely outside the hotel (a woman, unfortunately, for whom the receptionist called the police) and another person wandering around the hotel smelling of drugs. If you go through the portico to get to the city center, you'll smell the unsettling odor. If you return with food or shopping purchases, put them in a tote bag (without brand names) for your safety. Despite the surroundings, the room is very spacious and the low bed is comfortable. I was able to access my room around 12:30 pm the first time, and I understood why later, as there aren't many guests, if I'm not mistaken... They group guests by floor. Honestly, I was ready to book again, but upon my departure, when I returned my keycard, the farewell reception was icy. I felt embarrassed. The employee was almost exasperated that I left at 11:00 AM (my train wasn't until 1:20 PM). He didn't ask any questions to see if everything had gone well. I stayed until the very last minute on the last day, and every day I did a light cleaning of my room, including before leaving (gathering all the used linens, cleaning the toilet, bathroom, and table, changing the trash bags daily, etc.). It is worth noting an issue that has been unsettling. During my stay, a personal item went missing from my room and, despite repeated checks, is nowhere to be found. I raised this with the front desk, where I was told that the manager would need to be contacted. While staff were alright, the response focused largely on assurances that housekeeping would not do such a thing, rather than on actively resolving the situation or offering a clear process for investigation. The item itself is not of major value, but its complete disappearance is difficult to explain and has left me uneasy.

An ideal hotel for stranded train passengers who can't get home with the NMBS timetable. Located behind the North Station, exit platform 12. Turn immediately right, next to the police station; the hotel, with a 24-hour reception, is opposite the railway tunnel. The neighborhood is a bit intimidating if you're not from Belgium, but the hotel offers a cheap, one-night stopover. We stayed in room 307, which had a double bed and a single bed, parquet flooring, and a bathroom with a bathtub and a shower curtain. We didn't shower because we wanted to get home quickly after breakfast; the toilet is separate. There are coffee and tea facilities, a kettle, a desk, and a TV. Power outlets are next to the bed. There are no blackout blinds in the room. The breakfast buffet costs €15 and is good. The staff is friendly but doesn't speak Dutch, which is a shame for Brussels, the capital of Belgium and Europe.
