Hotel Maya Caribe Faranda

This resort is in a very good location within 50 yards is the dock to the ferry. That’ll take you over to the island. It’s a nice resort, but it is old and it is very visible that it is old. The exterior of the buildings probably have not been painted since the early 2000’s. It is a bit rundown but at the same time it is nice as a budget resort under $400 for a 5 days trip per person. It is difficult if you are not on top of your game to find lounge chairs around the pool or on the beach many days we saw people putting their towels in the courtyard on the grass to layout. There is a huge lack of lounge, chairs to enjoy the sun . That was my girlfriend’s biggest complaint, trying to find chairs so she could enjoy the sun without laying in the grass. We saw many folks putting their towels on the beach and laying on the sand. The view of the ocean is beautiful here. Depending on which rooms you stay in the very Big Resort next to this resort is RIU and they have a generator that makes a lot of noise so pray that you don’t get rooms close to RIU . If you are there at the same time that there is a wedding the weddings are held in a courtyard. If you have a room facing the courtyard don’t plan on sleeping because the weddings are very loud and this area is a small place, from what I was told by the people who had to deal with it it was utterly horrible for them . Our room was on the generator side of resort, and after 2 days we got used to the rumble. The inclusive package buffet had a nice variety of foods.There is no high-end liquor offered. This is not a fancy resort by no means but once again it is in a wonderful location for us because we really didn’t spend a whole lot of time there except for during the day to lay in the sun. right outside the resort you can get on the Public bus and ride to downtown area for one dollar USD . There was never a time that I or my girlfriend did not feel safe. One afternoon we even walked all the way to town, where Coco Bongo is it took us 45 minutes . There is a lot of people I know that would not stay here but We’d definitely go back if the price was right.. although it may sound like I am criticizing this resort I am not. I am just letting you know exactly the best I can what we saw and experienced, but we did enjoy our stay here for what we paid.

A truly excellent hotel, the location is beautiful, and the staff are incredibly friendly. I would return a thousand times.

This place no longer exists!! Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the hotel. I booked a 4-day all-inclusive through Booking.com. When I arrived, they told me this hotel didn't exist anymore, that the Dos Playas Hotel had bought it and now belonged to them. They did accept my reservation, but when I arrived, they didn't have a room for me, even though I had paid in advance. They had to send us to another hotel they claimed was theirs, called Aquamarina. They said we could stay there one day and the next day they would put us in one of their rooms at the Dos Playas Hotel. The Aquamarina Hotel was awful and old. The pools were neglected, the meal times were short, there was little variety in the food (only 3 dishes), and there was little variety in the drinks. The worst part was that it didn't have a beach! It was a pier! It was all absolutely horrible, it wasn't worth it. We were so upset that we canceled the rest of our stay! And another thing, they didn't give us our rooms until 5 pm 😩😩😩 It was a nightmare, honestly. Don't be fooled.
