Hotel Harheimer Hof

What you need to know about before you book this place: 1. It is NOT close to the city. You will need public transport/ taxi to get to where you need to go if you have no car. Take bus 28 to Kalbach station, from there a train will take you into the city(U8). The bus stop is within 50 steps of the hotel. Once you come out of the hotel, go to you left and follow the road around. ( Street name is Alt Harheim). Go past the chemist, which will be in your left and cross the road to get to the side for the city bound trip. You will see a pole with 28 on it and a few chairs. There is no shelter, so if it's raining, take an umbrella. 2. The hotel was built in the late 80s and it has the decor to match. It is dated and could do with an update. However, it is clean and the beds are comfortable. Even thought there is a control for what looks like an aircon, there is no aircon in the room, there are no vents. So I'm unsure why is there. The room we were in was stuffy and we needed a fan to keep the air circulating, don't know what its like in summer? 3. Although the hotel is in a residential area, it is, for the most part, very quiet. Except if you're in room 211 which is right above the entry and where people gather to talk or smoke. Then you will hear the conversations and smell the smoke from the cigarettes and you will need to keep your window closed, unless of course you want to eavesdrop, then by all means, keep your window open. You'll be bored to sleep. There is a restaurant for guests and the public. But the menu is limited and when we dined, two pasta dishes were not available. ( lasagne and Americana). We ordered two burgers and it took almost 30 minutes for the did to arrive. Unsure as to why it took so long as the restaurant was not busy at all. We did not mind waiting, but if you're in a hurry, you might want to take this in mind. Breakfast is served in the breakfast room next to the restaurant. Many selections to be made, but get it first , it else you miss out. Perhaps it would be better to cook hot food as ordered rather than let the food sit in the hot box because when we came down to eat, the hot food was not appetising. Further down the street ( Alt Harheim), there is a bakery so if you don't want breakfast, you could try that place. 4. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We asked for two extra pillows as the ones on the bed were too soft. We asked for a fan, as explained above. Both requests were met with very prompt service. Overall, this wasn't a bad place, just not what we expected for what we wanted to do while in Frankfurt.

Absolutely not recommended. The staff was quite unfriendly and totally unmotivated to work. The room was a complete disaster, simply old and dilapidated. The bed linen was dirty. The bathroom looked like it was from 1912. The hallway smelled musty, and the old carpet had some extremely stained spots (it looked like vomit). The breakfast buffet was a complete joke; there was no good selection, many items were empty, and they even had pre-baked rolls. The coffee was simply undrinkable.

Very quiet location. Very clean.
